hi..probably the reason to this problem may be due to
worn belt and deck or a belt that needs lube.

SOURCE: Nordic Track Treadmill will not run
If console lights up but doesnt respond when buttons are pressed, you more than likely have a console problem. Key pad issue would be my best guess.
SOURCE: Nordictrack motor will not run when start button is pushed.
Likely the cover of one of the motor brushes popped off. Unplug the machine before you pop it back in place, then try it again.
If that doesn't work, most likely it's the motor control board, or possibly the console, or finally just a loose connection behind the console.
But most likely, it's the motor brush cover. I've been seeing that alot with this model.
SOURCE: treadmill deck repair
MDF is what most companies use, but it varies. I'm not familiar with HP treadmills, do you mean DP?
It doesn't matter, I always use desck from the manufacturer. I have modified a deck from one model and used it on another, but I always use one specifically made for treadmills because the surface preparation they do is very flat and very smooth, far better than typical luber prep or anything I can do in my workshop.
You need the deck to be strong yet flexible, very flat, very smooth and very well lubricated.

You have 1,2 or maybe 3 problems. 1st is you need to remove the cover over the motor. The belt that the motor turns may be slipping. You need to loosen the bolt that keeps the tension on the drive belt. Push down to tighten manually and then tighten bolt. While your in there you should check the drive belt for wear. If you have used the treadmill a lot it may need replacement. $20 from readmilldocter.com The walking belt if badly worn can be replaced for like $99 but probably is fine. put all back together and tighten tension. Should be able to lift walking belt 3 to 4 inches from center sides. Any less and its too tight. Its probably better to just replace the drive belt anyway. This should work. Do not over tighten ever. This is the cause of most problems.
