If your TCL TV is continuously going into setup mode every time it is turned on, it can be frustrating. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Power Cycle: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This simple power cycle can sometimes help reset the TV's settings and resolve minor glitches.
2. Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on your TCL TV. Keep in mind that this will erase all customized settings and return the TV to its original factory settings. To do this, navigate to the TV's settings menu (if possible) and look for an option to perform a factory reset. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions on how to access the settings menu and perform the reset.
3. Check Remote Control: Ensure that there are no stuck buttons or issues with the remote control. Sometimes, a stuck button can cause the TV to enter setup mode. Remove the batteries from the remote control and try turning on the TV using the buttons on the TV itself. If the issue resolves, you may need to replace or repair the remote control.
4. Software Update: Check if there are any available software updates for your TCL TV. Visit the TCL support website and search for your TV model to see if there are any firmware updates available. Updating the TV's software can help fix bugs and improve overall performance.
5. Contact TCL Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact TCL customer support for further assistance. They can provide you with specific troubleshooting steps for your TV model or advise on potential hardware issues that may require professional repair.
When contacting customer support, provide them with the model number, a detailed description of the issue, and any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This information will help them assist you more effectively.

Grey screens are reportedly a common problem on the TCL TVs but I have no way of verifying the validity of that. There appear to be several different reasons a grey screen may appear, some of which deal with settings rather than parts. Because of that, there is no way I can discern which might be a solution for you. And beyond you trying to change the settings, if this IS a parts issue, there will come a point of how much money you want to spend trying to repair the TV when it might exceed the value of the TV as you move from one possible solution to the next. There is no guarantee ANY of the prospective solutions will work. Why? Because neither you nor I can TEST the components that might be the problem before you buy a replacement.
But you are welcome to try some setting adjustments and look at some videos and parts. You just better have an idea of how much money and time you want to invest before you commit yourself to a repair of uncertain outcomes.
Here are a variety of scenarios:
If you can get to a menu that allows you to change the "appearance" of the TV (as from Vivid to some other setting affecting contrast), you might stumble into a solution.
