SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 320GB Power up problem
I have been using my SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 320GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive for several years and now it will not power up. Any suggestions? Should I be able to get my information off it?
Re: SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 320GB Power up...
It could be that it's internal power supply burnt out, in which case the drive itself could still be fine.
Try opening up the external case, and removing the drive. Once you do, plug it in to your computer directly using its SATA cables, and see if that works.

See the Hitachi SimpleTech FAQ's which states that "The SimpleDrive and (re)Drive lines require a 12Volts, 1.5Amp or greater, and Center Positive power adapter".
The original power supply is "SB2D-020-1HA SIMPLETECH AC ADAPTER 12V 1.5A FOR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE" . Just find a replacement with the correct size plug (center positive) that supplies 12v DC at 1.5amps (1500ma)
External Drive...desktop computer can't access it.
