This 8-light code is a joystick controller problem. It is an internal problem with the circuit board located inside the joystick. The entire joystick assembly would need to be replaced in this situation. If you are in need of a joystick, I have several for sale.

An 8 bar flash indicates a Possible Control System Trip:
A control system trip is indicated. Make sure that all connections are secure. The connection may be broken at the junction box, or the umbillical that runs under the seat may have come loose. Check those connections as well. If that does not work, you may want to have a Hoveround Tech to come out and do a diagnosis.

What if the speed LEDs on the VR2/VSI begin to flash?

  • Determine if the battery charger is connected to the power base. When the battery charger is connected to the power base, a charger inhibit feature keeps the power chair from driving. This is indicated by the VR2/VSI speed
    LED(s) flashing.
  • Determine if the charger harness fuse has blown. A blown charger fuse can cause the charger inhibit to
    activate.
  • Determine if all controller connections are plugged into the power base properly. If the 3-pin charger
    inhibit connector is not plugged in properly, then the charger inhibit feature will activate.

Hoveround MPV4

Check your battery connections, make absolutely sure it is connected correctly.

Place a multimeter in the XLR plug (joystick). You should have around 26V reading if batteries are connected correctly.

Check the free wheel levers. place the chair in free wheel and move back and forth a couple of times. Place the chair back into drive, turn on controller and try to drive. ( This is not typically associated with a clicking sound but will ensure your brakes are not on)

If you are still hearing a clicking sound, it could be a problem with the brake or a motor. A qualified technician should really look at it for you.

According to my 1170 manual the flashing lights are error codes. 1 red = low batt., 2 red = left motor disconnected, 3 red = Left motor wiring fault, 4 yellow = Right motor disconnected, 5 yellow = right motor wiring fault, 6 yellow = Inhibit active, 7 yellow =possible joystick fault, 8 green = possible controller fault, 9 green = Solenoid brake fault, 10 green = high batt. voltage

When I power up my MPV4 I get a 9 flashing led error. Is there something I can do to rectify this error?

rakoble the 9 flashes error code can indicate the brake lever not in drive mode or if you have the electric seat its not all the way down or finally a controller problem and on the Hoveround thats the joystick. Check the brake levers and the seat if you have that on your chair. If the first two are ok then its the joystick and you'll have to get a new one. Hope this helps

How to wire a towbar to a renault laguna ? what

Hi there,

If you have the Renault end, I've got the rest. I have the pinouts for 7 wire, 6 Wire and 4 Wire, One of them will fit the bill

Plug Types/Application
7 Way - RV Trailers, Horse and Utility Trailers
6 Way - Horse, Stock and Utility
4 Way - Utility Trailers

Columns are: Color, Function, Mark on the plug.

Seven wire Trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:

White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric2_bing.gif Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Six wire trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery2_bing.gif, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Recreational Vehicle: (color, use, plug mark)
White = Ground - GD
Brown = Right turn Brake - RT
Green = Tail and clearance lights -TM
Black = Battery, aux power - A
Red = Left turn/Brake - LT
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Four wire plugs:
White = Ground
Yellow = Left turn/Brake
Green = Right turn Brake
Brown = Tail and clearance lights

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

A test light and a 12VDC power source can be handy for trouble shooting
.

I have a 2010 Road King Classic. I want to add and Axitech 4S Led Light to the brake light. I need a wiring schematic to Identify which wires to connect to.

Typically Harley uses a red and a green wire on their tail light assemblies. The red wire is usually the brake light, green being the tail light.

Using a test light, turn the switch on, push the probe into the red wire, and step on the rear brake pedal. If the test light illuminates when you step on the brake pedal, you've got the right wire for the brake light. The green wire should be "hot" whenever the ignition switch is "on" and the headlight is on.
