While in Safe Mode.... Go to HP.com, Support, Drivers.... Download the latest video drivers, including the "Chipset" drivers. Then, uninstall all video drivers by going to control panel, (System, Device Manager) Reboot system, hopefully Windows will install the correct drivers upon reboot. After reboot, re-run the new drivers
To start try reinstalling display adapter drivers. Try also to start from a boot disk or to install a different operative system.
If it does not go, and does not depend on the system, a static vertical lines is either faulty display adapter or faulty LCD display. Usually the video adapter.
Unfortunately your screen is going bad. If it is under warranty have it replaced immediately. It will get nothing but worse. There are no viruses or setting in Windows that would cause such a problem. You may be able to minimize the distraction by right clicking on your desktop and going to settings and adjusting brightness, contrast, color, etc.
boot up your laptop and take a magnet in your hand and revolve around the screen the screen might go crazy but all the colors will be back in a while. :)
If the pink spot appears as mostly a circle in the middle if the screen then a light engine is needed. If it is an even coverage than possibly just a memory initilization needed by a technician.
