There are air intake vents under the keys on the keyboard. They````w are under the F1-F4, 1234, and the qwert keys. It is critical that they are clean. I used a vacuum cleaner. I placed it over a few keys, turned it on and turned it off. Moved he nozzle and repeated. I was afraid if I just picked up the nozzle and moved it I might suck the keys off. I have not had a shutdown since.

Is the laptop vented by a cooling fan? If not it is more than likely caused by lack of air flow around the laptop, check to make sure the fan is running. My laptop recently brpegan overheating due to a failed ventilation fan and it caused a lot of operating system problems. Hope this helps a bit with finding the solution.

Reduce the applications used at one time to prevent overheating. Overheating will cause automatic shutdown in most electronics to prevent damage.

How can I fix thermal shutdown of Acer b1-730?

Could be the CPU needs new thermal paste and reseating.this is usually a fail safe designed to protect the computer when the CPU is getting too hot.also check the cooling fan ......blocked vents as this may also cause overheating issues thus not cooling the internals which will activate thermal shutdown.

Automatically shutdown, overheating, not charging

Not holding a charge is either a bad battery or a bad charger.
Overheating and shutting down is quite common.
1. Overheating can be caused by the cooling air passageway being clogged resulting in little or no air movement.
2. It can also be caused by a bad fan on the heat sink.
Both are easy fixes.
#1. Clean the airway with a can of air.
#2. Disassemble the laptop and replace the cooling fan.

Bios 500

Shutdowns can be caused by many things. If you have your pc setup for automatic updates, some updates require a reboot and will do that automatically. Normally you can prevent that from happening by changing the settings from automatically updating to notify me first before updating.

The shutdown can also be caused by the cpu overheating. Your computer will automatically shut down to protect itself.

Shutdowns can also be created by a infected computer. Malware can cause this.

With out further details, such as what you were doing at the time of the shutdown it's difficult to say why your system is shutting down.

I can say that normally if its a update your system will shut down and reboot, not always, but usually.
Not a lot of help but additional information is really needed. What you are doing, brand of pc, if you have loaded new software or hardware, as much information as you can provide would help.

Sometimes, just goggling you problem on line with the make of the pc will help you find the answer you are having. Many times the problem you are having has already been addressed and a solution provided.

Hi,

I suggest try to check these things on your machine.

->Check if the machine is Overheating.
->Check which part of the machine is Overheating.
->See if the Fan of the machine is Running(Feel if the air vent of the machine)

Cause of Automatic Shutdown:
-Memory
-Hard Drive
-Fan is not working

Most likely those are the cause of the machine keeps on shutting down unexpectedly.

The pc keeps switching itself off

Computer Switching off can be many problem.

Method 1 : Overheating of the system

System automatically shutdown or restart by itself when it's overheated due to Dust or dirt contamination in order to prevent hardware burn out.

Open your Notebook which is little tough to explain as it is different for all models.
and get it clean with an Air Blower mainly near the Processor area, check the CPU cooling fan is working or not.Get it clean too.

Check now if the system is working fine.

Method 2 : Malware, Trojan, Virus infection
Malware, Trojan, Virus infection can caused a system to repeatedly restart or shutdown as they infect svchost.exe or explorer.exe.

Scanning the system with a good antivirus like Norton,Kaspersky internet security 2010 or A-squared Anti-Malware or Avast Antivirus with their lastest updates install can solve the problem.

I perfer you check out the method 1 first.

VPL-HS20 shuts down in the middle of a movie

There is a heat sensor cutting down the power. The sensor is located on the upper side between lamp and fan and is monitoring the air temperatur. I don't know what is causing the sensor to switch - excessive heat or simply age or ... . Anyway un screwed this sensor and my problem disappeared.
Possibly a stronger fan would solve the problem too.
