Did you try to de-assemble and clean the contact of this button with contact cleaner, take care to not shoot on rubber parts if you have near the contact, it would blown up !

SOURCE: technics 1200sl pitch control

There seems to be 2 issues with this unit. Usually when the platter speeds up very quickly, one of the IC (integrated circuits) are faulty and needs to be replaced. However, I've never seen the 33/45 lights come on in addition. So, perhaps the issue started with faulty 33/45 switches, and it then caused a short to one of the IC's.

This will have to be professionally serviced, as it is not an easy fix. There are various circuits on the main board which control the drive, so it's a matter of diagnosing which is the culprit. The 33/45 switches will also need to be tested/replaced.

SOURCE: When I turn on my Technics 1200 MK2 the 33 button

33 1/3 and 45 RPM Selector;---With these selector you have to choose the playing speed of the platter. Most 12" vinyl records with 1 track need 45 RPM, all others 33 1/3. Although this is no hard rule you could use it as a general guideline.----------
Pitch bend trick when on 33 1/3 RPM:---Some people use a little pitch-bending trick when the 33 1/3 RPM mode is selected. When a track is playing you can hold down the 33 1/3 RPM button and at the same time press the 45 RPM button. The speed will increase to 45 RPM but when you use it with tiny little pushes you can perform an un hearable positive pitch-bend.
------------------------Its quite possible that this buttons are getting jammed, they are not making proper contact.Try spraying contact cleaner spray directly to the side of the button and let it remain there, then press both 33 and 45 buttons few times and see if that makes any difference, but if that is not helping then,it sounds like a short on the pcb, one of the IC's could have gone bad, or the 33/45 have shorted out. -------- So its working on both 33 and 45 speed but not switching from 33 to 45 or from 45 to 33.-------- But first try freeing the 33 to 45 switch button. It must be getting jammed due to dirt or anything blocking it.---------- If that is not helping then try other things,---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Couple of options , but first cleanen the pithfader and variable resistor pitch vr3 i thought, it's an open one , he needs allways to be replaced, even technics says so and first clean the board, inside and on youtube and this side there enough movies and text how to do it, and check the pitchfader cables very good.

There are 2 problems with the my deck: 1. The +-0 light for the pitch will not work but everything else about the pitch works fine. 2. The deck will not change from 33bpm to 45bpm, I have replaced the...

Hi, please do this test for me. With the deck running on 33 speed and the pitch control set to 0 use your finger on the platter centre and speed it up manually as much as you can. Doe's the quartz lock lamp come on? If not then open the deck up and loosen off the fixing screws on the circuit board that has the 33/45 buttons. Try to change speed with the board loosened off. If none of the above makes any difference replace the quartz lock neon. Use only original Technics neon. As a matter of interest have you done any mods to the deck? Cheers John,

the turntable wont spin unless a record is on the platter, the centre 45 adapter weighs the record to determine 33/45.try pressing 33 and turning the platter by hand(remove expensive cartridge first!),if it starts to spin the motor leaf switch is at fault.is the belt in position.the motor pulley can become unglued.

Braking not working right

Well, does the platter spin at a constant speed (33 or 45 rpm), or does it spin super fast? If it spins at a constant speed, and it just wont stop, replacing that pot should do the trick (VR201 can be purchased HERE). You can attempt to replace it yourself (soldering skills are required), or just buy the part, and have a service tech replace it for you.

If it does not solve the problem, then the issue is with one of the IC's (integrated circuits). This is a more complex diagnosis and repair. But try replacing VR201 first, then taking it from there.

Good luck!

Technic 1200 mk2 turntable wont spin

need to know if it powers up. Does it try to spin, do you hear it trying to spin? More than likely the on/off switch went bad. No, I am not referring to the ON/OFF knob. THere is a switch this engages when turned. The part is S601. You might also want to replace the Start/Stop switch as well. If neither work, then the issue is on the main PC board, and probably IC101, or IC201 with the problem. At this stage, you will have to have a service tech look at your unit.
