Error 6a81 A small rubber plug got stuck in the works. Error 6A81 showed. I removed the plug and turned the machine off / on. The printer still gives the error. I have tried moving the inks gently back and to and also tried holding down the On/off switch for 3 minutes. These methods failed. The user manual does not show 6A81 anywhere. Please help Thanks [email protected]

Turn off power, remove power cord and wait 10 minutes, then reconnect power cord and turn unit on, if this does not work then advised to contact canon service centre

1. Unplug the power cord from printer.
2. Hold both o.k and Cancel simultaneously.
3. Plug the power cable while holding the buttons.

After I did this my printer reconfigured like it used to do and it was like it was new again.... well new plus a headache a managed to get while reading all these little posts. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: MP560 Canon Printer Error 6C10

The above suggestion worked short term, but in about a couple of hours, I'd get the same old error code again. Finally, I found a solution that worked for my MX860 on fixya.com written by "pineworks". The link is as follows: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4097826-aborber_full_error_message

Don't know if you've found an answer to this problem yet, but I had the same issue for about three months. Finally, I found a solution that worked for my MX860 on fixya.com written by "pineworks". The link is as follows: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4097826-aborber_full_error_message

For months, I've had to power off, disconnect from computer, and power on again to kick-start the printing. It was driving me crazy. So far, "pineworks" solution has been a permanent one. Been about a week and have had no problems yet.

Print error 6A81 how can i find out wot to do

You did not say what type of printer it is, or if you have checked for a piece of paper stuck somewhere in the printer.

Example of possible solution:

https://www.inkredible.co.uk/canon-error-code-6a81-fixed

https://www.inkredible.co.uk/canon-error-code-6a81-fixed

Quoting from web page shown, photo not included in quote:

"Canon Error Code 6A81 - Fixed! We recently came across error code 6A81 on our Canon Pixma MG5250 Printer (using PGI-525/CLI-526 range cartridges). The error could also occur on other printers in this range.
The error code is basically caused by an obstruction within the printer, usually a paper jam but could be any foreign body that has found its way into the printer (those with young children will understand!). The obstruction stops the carriage and print head from moving into the correct position when powering up the printer. The print head should come to rest at the right hand side of the carriage and position itself over the waste ink sponges. If the print head is unable to do so, it returns the '6A81' error message.
You can see from the picture, the position of the two waste ink sponges towards the right hand side. The sponges are spring loaded and move backwards and forwards when the printer initialisation occurs upon start up.
The problem in our case was caused by two pieces of torn paper. One at the far right of the printer which was simple to remove, but the other was stuck in a small opening behind the spring mechanism for the waste ink sponges. This was preventing the sponges from being moved freely and seated correctly, which in turn meant that the print head was unable to pass over them and come to rest in the correct position.
To remove the torn paper we turned off the power to the printer (to prevent any damage to the carriage mechanism) and used a pair of tweezers to carefully pull the offending article through the small gap. We missed this hidden piece of paper the first time we checked for obstructions so it's worth shining a torch in and having a good nose around!
Close your printer lid, power on the printer and et voila... Canon error code 6A81 is no more!"

Does not print. How can I eliminate recurrent 6A81 error?

Error 6A81 appears on Canon printers like Pixma IP4800, MG5140, MG5150, MX882...
Solution 1: This is a purge unit error.
  • There maybe something jamming the purge unit or just a absorber out of place which is picking up on the carriage preventing it from moving correctly.
  • Try to move the carriage away from the purge (its where the printhead/carriage parks its self on the right side of the machine) with no resistance then you can shine a torch into the machine and look at the purge unit.
  • There maybe crumpled paper jammed in the purge.
  • If all looks well, the purge unit may be defective and had to be replaced.

Solution 2:
  • The wiper on the purge may have stuck. It slides back and forth and they have been known to stick.
  • Push it with a long screwdriver to see if it moves.
Solution 3:
  • Something is blocking the printer inside. It could be a paper jam or a foreign object.
  • Check using a flashlight, to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen.
  • If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer power supply.
Solution 3a ( thanks to Peter van eijden for the tip):
  • Printer off.
  • Bring by hand the ink-carrier to the right side.
  • Push down carefully on the carrier, hold on and shalter the printer: push the left site of the carrier down, because its will come up.

Solution 4:
  • Take a dry cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.

Solution 5:
  • Hold the printer in both hands (you may need another person to help you), turn it upside down and shake it for a few seconds to see if anything falls out of the paper feed area. (Sometimes objects such as pens, paper clips and so on can fall into the paper feed area and cause blockages.)
  • Then plug the printer back up, take your paper out and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Then try to form feed again. If that works, then try to print again.

5220 quit. says "turn off and on"-no fix. Says "see manual"-no info. Shows "6A81 on top of screen. Error Code?

6A81 means the carriage is blocked by something. Start by checking the following image to verify there are no paper jams.
