Why does my tv have red horizontal lines going across the tv
Both my upper and lower would independently turn black then decided to all turn to red static and lines. yay!! Im hoping i can replace these upper and lower y boards found them online for $85 each.. wish me luck
DO NOT BUY A PHILIPS TV!!!!!
My three year old Philips plasma had the same "red lines" going all over the bottom part of the screen. I ordered a new lower Y board for $89 and had my 17 year old replace it. Quite honestly it was easy to do. The hardest part was pulling off the 50 screws that hold the back of the set together.
Gotta love youtube for having a video on doing this fix!

My tv actually blew up and cracked the screen. Makes a loud buzzing sound and is utterly dead. I hate Philips.
Yeah my tv the black bar is getting bigger and bigger
So which 2 boards had to be replaced?
After a Year My tv does the same exact thing. I have read hundreds of complaints on this issue and nothing but horror story's about philips service and months to fix to find out it will just break again
Aba951- I have the same issue with mine - $700 bucks to fix it! because 2 boards have to be replaced!! From what I'm reading there are a TON of people with this same issue...
Have 3" black line in the middle of picture
SOURCE: Tv wont power on. red light keeps blinking
line not working will prob be a voltage regulater transister
SOURCE: No tv channels with Philips 42FD9935/17
If you are using a Cable Box, then select the Cable Box option in the TV. If you have connected the Antenna directly to the TV, then select the Antenna option in the TV under Menu options. Try performing the Auto program.......If using a Cable Box, then no need to perform the Auto program. If the issue persists, try resetting the TV to the factory settings and check if it helps.

Same problem red lines runing vertekly thruout the screen!
I have the same problem but with a 42pf9630a/37. About 3 months ago the top half of my screen started cutting in and out with a black bar. Then today my whole screen went and permantley has thicker black horizontal lines starting at the top, thining out as it goes down and my whole picture is stuffed.
Worst part is I live on a small island with no philips tech rep. May have to use this heap of junk as a coffee table unless someone can suggest a fix.
Red horizontal lines, color fading
We have (had?) a Dell 42" (made by Phillips for them) plasma W4201CAK purchased in 12/05 and assume it's the same TV. It was 17 mo. old and one evening it went from a perfect picture to a strange mixed colored blob (like a Rorschach test.) Not sure what the TV fix is, but my wife (God bless her!) held Dell's feet to the fire. They at first told her that we should have had an extended warranty, but she quickly reminded them that they wouldn't OFFER one on that TV when we purchased it. Long. long, long & hard story short: Dell just sent us a new Sharp 42" LCD at no cost. LCD picture is disappointing compared to plasma, but at least we aren't out $1600.
Same here. My model is 42PF7220A/37. After about a half of an hour the bottom half of my screen goes black and then sometime it comes back with blurry lines. Shutting the TV off cures it for a while. Another website post stated he thinks it is due to overheating and when he placed a fan behind it he didn't have any more trouble. Does anyone have repair board part numbers?
Red horizontal lines and color fading
Same problem, same model. Screen has grid lines side to side.
screen goes black after 5 minutes with the unit on cannot reset, was told no upgrade
Red horizontal lines and color fading
I have the same problem, Red and Blue lines going across and the colors spreading vertically.
Anybody out there have solution to this
I had a similar problem with same model. I would turn on the tv and I would get like red fireworks on my screen almost like somebody dumped a can of red paint on it. I heard sound but no picture. I called philips and they told me to call a repair shop in my town. I took the tv in and they said that I need 2 parts : Listed below
#LJ92-01202A UPPER Y BUFFER BOARD
#LJ92-01203A LOWER Y BUFFER BOARD
the repair shop went on to tell me that Philips will no longer be making any TV's and that they are moving there warehouse to California so the parts aren't going to be available. luckily they had the 2 parts in stock and I got my TV back. It cost about $500. Repair shop said that this issue seems to only happen with Philip/JVC 42" plasmas as he gets them almost weekly for repairs.
bottom half turns black and after a small tap on top pix returns
now black area does not occur but red peppery spots all over
My Philips tv model #42PF7320A/37 has red horizontal blinking lines on its 1/5 top
