I couldn't find an answer online, I have a Toshiba satellite with Vista and the clicking wasn't working on the pad. I found the answer....
open control panel...
hardware and sound....
mouse....
the tab Device Settings
click Settings
click Tapping on the left
click the check box enable tapping
and for everyone with problems with nothing working on the pad at all hold down the FN key next to the control key and press F9

Go into your control panel (if your on windows). Load the mouse settings control. You can customize the features of your touchpad.

I had a similar problem with my Compaq EVO N610C Touchpad.
The latest driver form HP did not solve the problem.
I went to Synaptic's website and downloaed and installed their latest generic driver, no more problems!

Note, this may or may not work for you. Best to set a System Restore point before installing in case it does not work for you, worth a try.
