My daughter has a leapster. She hasn't played it for awhile so it needed to be charges. We tried to use it after charging but when you put in any game - you get a cartridge icon & a ? mark.

Just got my daughter the Leap Pad 2 with rechargeable batteries, but never got to use it becuase the device never charged.

Did it come with the batteries installed or seperate? Make sure they work in another device after they charged for 24hrs.
sometimes there is a seperator tap inside that needs to be pulled out

There is no definitive way to check if your battery will hold a charge besides actually using the device itself.

are the batteries you are using the correct size/voltage for the leapster? I believe it takes 4 AA/LR6 size batteries at 1.5V each.
has the product been dropped or bashed?

Call Leapster they have replaced a few for my family and have been VERY easy to deal with. NO charge or anything.

Blow real hard in the cartridges slot, then insert it in the leapster. This used to happen with old NES games.
