The original belt slipped off after 2 yrs of use, so I replaced it. After vacuuming for about a minute, the belt slips off. Is there some kind off pin that fell off of the motor bar that is supposed to hold the belt on? The belt is the coorect size and new. The roller spins fine.
Hello! There is no other part that goes on the motor shaft after the belt is put on. The tension of the belt keeps the belt from slipping off. If you have a brand new belt that keeps slipping off you may not have the correct belt for the vacuum. Be sure you replace with a genuine Dirt Devil belt and the specified belt style for your particular unit. Hope this helps! You may have a bad brush roll, part #61250-1, or the base itself has a problem and isn't letting the brush roll sit straight so it can be in alignment.

It could be an old belt even if the upright is new. Check that the beater bar is not clogged with dust or threads and find a replacement belt for this vacuum and fit it to see if there is any difference. If not, then there's a problem with the vac and it should be returned.

I believe there is something wrong with the roller, could be the barrings or the end caps are warped. Try this, take the roller out and with each hand on each end hold the roller and try to spin the roller with your thumb. If it does not spin freely the problem is the roller.
