My advice sell the lens or the body and use the previous Nikon model that works
When you are using different modern Nikon lenses, this is strange. can you tell what lens(es) you get the message with? brand and model please. And if one of these lenses worked before? And if you did an firmware update recently.
To use the movie-record button, your camera must be in the live view mode.
When you are using the viewfinder (DSLR mode) you only can shoot stills. in live view, you can shoot movies with the little red Movie-record button and shoot stills with the shutter release button.
Set the camera to one of the two remote modes. The quick-response remote mode fires the camera when you press the button. The delayed remote mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing.
