After a recent paper jam, my hp D5160 printer will not turn off, you have to unplug it. The err message and red exclamation light are on continuously. The cartridge carriage will not go all the way to the right in order to load cartridges.

Red light blinking

The Attention light is flashing red.
Solution The printer requires attention. Try the following:
* If the printer is connected to a computer, check the computer screen for
instructions.
* If you are printing a CD label on a CD/DVD, insert the CD/DVD holder in the
CD/DVD tray now.
* If you have a digital camera connected to the printer, check the camera screen
for instructions.
* If the printer is not connected to a computer, check for the following problems:
- Main cover open - Out of paper - Paper jam - Print carriage jammed or stuck - Print cartridge missing or inserted incorrectly - Print cartridge tape not removed - Incorrect print cartridge installed - Packaging materials are not removed * If you are unable to solve the problem by using the instructions above, turn off
the printer and unplug the printer power cord. Wait 10 seconds, and then plug
it in again. Turn on the printer.

The red exclamation mark keeps flashing and on the left half of the printer's screen there is dashed lines that keep going around in a rectangle pattern. I turn the printer off and then the printer turns...

use the printer settings on pc to diagnose the problem through its menu possible paper jam or an ink that is done and requires replacement but do check if there is no paper jammed in the machine and that all the doors and covers are closed

I changed the color ink in my d5160 printer and now the red light is flashing. i can't get the printer to reset it self.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your printer. Here are some things to check.

1) Is cartridge inserted correctly and all tape remove from cartridge?
2) Are both cartridges in correct chamber?
3) Have you tried unplugging and letting stand for a minute or two and then replugging? (Hard Reset)
4) Do you get any error message on your screen?
5) Is paper fed into paper tray and pushed all of the way back?
6) What if any error message do you get on the computer itself in printers inside coontrol panel?

Let me know if these don't provide an answer and I will gladly assist further.

Attention light blinks after jam

Hi,
most of the HP printers will detect the paper jam and will provide you with help window automatically to rectify the problem. If paper gets jammed, just remove it from backside and then turn off the printer and power it on. cancel any pending printing documents. Everything have to become normal. If it not, try restarting your system too.
I hope its helpful to you

Blinking red light, unable to turn off or print

From the looks of your printer. I'd say that one of your ink has a problem. The part where you put the cartridge in, is where your problem lies. YOu'll prob need to get it checked out by an HP dealer.

try changing the ink cartridge and see if that helps.

Problem with HP 7450 and "Paper Jam"

hi, mezz

try this

There are 2 different types of flashing patterns with those two lights on the printer.
***
Resume light and power light BLINKING ALTERNATELY
Problem: Paper is jammed in the printer.
***
Resume blinking SIMULTANEOUSLY with power light

Problem:
The print cartridge carriage is stuck.

Solution:
1. Open the top of the printer.
2. Remove anything that is blocking the carriage path.
3. Turn the printer off.
4. Turn the printer on.

Problem:
There is something wrong with the printer. (I didn't write it, I am pulling this from actual HP tech documents, so don't blame me on this one) :)
Solution:
Turn the printer off.
Turn the printer on.
If the printer will not turn off, unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet or wall outlet.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Wait about 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Plug the power cord to the back of the printer.

oke, post in me back
