Lights blinking I have a Carrier 24ANA7 Infinity 17 seer and a FE4A Infinity Fan Coil Infinity Communicating Fan Coil Puron refrigerant ready FE4ANF003 along with the SYSTXCCUID01 Infinity Control User Interface. I purchased this system in November of 2008 after Hurricane Ike. I live in Houston TX A few times when it got really hot outside the system Control User Interface would say system malfunction. I would dismiss the notice go outside turn the power disconnect switch off and turn the breaker off and then back on (the breaker had not tripped).

The best information you could get is from Carrier. Here's their website:

http://www.carrier.com/homecomfort/en/us/for-owners/

There is a toll free number to call 1-800-Carrier (1-800-227-7437)

My carrier condenser fan has stopped running.can i just pour water over the coil and use the condenser untile the repairman gets here on friday

Messy - why not just hook up a regular fan and hook it up to the power line that ordinarily powers the condenser fan.and have it do the blowing until the repair person comes out on Friday. The ideal fan is one of those old floor fans that used to blow air in a 360 direction.

My Carrier Infinity system Model FE4A is leaking water from the bottom of the unit on to the basement floor. How do I stop the leak?

have your HVAC technician check the pressures in your unit...sounds like you may have low pressure. You should NOT be having any ice build up to melt off.

24ABA342A30010 NEED TO KNOWHOW MANY B T U'S THIS UNIT HAS

The only important part is before the last A. It gets broken into two parts, xxABA, and *** (where x is any number)
24ABA:
24A = A/C (24H would be heat pump)
B= Base series, C would be Comfort, P would be Performance and N would be Infinity. (B, C, P, N in that order gives you more bells and whistles)
3rd letter = A (puron) or B (R22).
342:
First number = SEER 3 = 13, 6 = 16, 1 = 21.
42 = btu in thousands (18-60)

This means that your unit is a 13 SEER, 42,000 BTU base-model Air Conditioner which uses Puron (R410 refrigerant).

I live in Phoenix, AZ. I have a 2 story 2300 sq ft home built in 2001. I have two Carrier AC units outside on the side of the house. They are the originals. The Large unit (upstairs) model 38CKC042340 and...

T the upstairs is a 3 1/2 ton 10.0 SEER condenser, and the downstairs is a 2 1/2 ton 10.0 SEER condenser. You can use any 10 SEER Unit on replacement, but if you go any higher in SEER (efficiency), there is a possibility the unit will freeze up. The reason is because the indoor coil also has an efficiency rating (10.0 SEER). It is not a good idea to mismatch units when it comes to SEER. Otherwise, you can use any brand of unit, if you want to go higher in efficiency, you need to change the indoor coil as well. Hope this helps. Mark

I replaced my whole heat pump system 3 years ago with a Carrier Puron unit. The installer called me this week and told me that I needed to replace the puron after the third year at a approx cost of...

Tell him you already had it done. lol. Unless you misunderstood what he told you no! You don't need to replace the Refrigerant weather it's Puron or Freon. It doesn't wear out. Ever. If your system develops a leak and you loose the Refrigerant it will have to be replaced but you will know you lost it because the system won't cool and heat like it's supposed to. I would report the installer to the better business bureau.

Carrier indoor coil replacement

yup, entire system needs to be drained, and leak needs to be repaired first before charging with freon.

after sealing the leak and test it is ok, evacuate the system for about 30 mins before charging it.

you may need a qualified tech to do that because you can not buy freon now a days.

you need to weld the leak also. you will need portable torch to weld copper pipes.

you will need vacuum pump to evacuate the system before charging with freon 22.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Carrier air conditioner problem

My Carrier unit did the same thing. It was low on refrigerant (Puron in my unit). I am worried I have a leak somewhere. Hopefully, it is not in the coil. The service call wasn't cheap either. Puron runs around $10-15 a pound and mine took several pounds to replenish.

I have a carrier Puron unit that is six years old. We had to replace the compresor on the third year, and now it is three years later and the second unit has failed.

I have seen this before when there is an obstruction in the evaporator coil metering device. This causes the compressor to struggle moving the Puron. After the Puron has been recovered make sure that they do a complete check of the metering device and check for other obstructions. When they are done checking they must do a proper vacuum to remove any non condensables like water condensation. Finally they should have installed both a liquid and suction filter dryer to reduce any dirt and stuff. The only other options are unlikely, as we will assume that the last company installed the correct (new) compressor and that they did not do a hack job.

On a happier note, the compressor should still be under the 10 year parts warranty!
