Why is HDMI 1 and 2 video quality poor?

Resumed, check HDMI contacts. If they are ok, maybe your cable is not good. Try another cable

I just got a new Optoma HD20 and only after 1day of use it is not showing HDMI signal, although it is showing VGA signal. Why is this?

Hi miracles4all: I solved HDMI signal issue in my Optoma HD20. In my case it was the lack of contact between the HDMI cable plug male ending and the Optoma HD20 HDMI female port. My 35ft cable plug male HDMI ending was not completely "seating" in the Optoma HD20 HDMI female port. I solved the problem by purchasing a HDMI female to female coupler and adding a 3ft HDMI cable that had a slim male ending. This 3ft HDMI extension cable made better contact to the Optoma HDMI port and the projector was immediately able to detect HDMI signal. Hope this helps you... kaufmanekpr

The HTDDWG700 does not transfer the audio through the HDMI cable that the vision goes through. To solve the problem i got an optical cable and connected the PS3 to the receiver with the optical and put the HDMI cable from the PS3 to the tv.

Can't get sound through my hdmi

Try the easisest route first - unplug and replug HDMI cable into same port or the other hdmi port on the TV. Also, make sure the Monster cable isn't HDMI 1.3 - I'm not sure the HDMI ports on this tv are fully compat with 1.3.

If that fails, go to www.usasupport.philips.com, enter your model number, click on the verison of your model ending in /37, and click on "Software & Drivers"; click on the link that says "Firmware Upgrade - Software" - read the specs and see if it says anything about audio loss on HDMI - many Philips have issues with the HDMI ports - they are not broken, but just need a software fix. Instructions are on the same page - make sure you only transfer the .upg file, not the entire zip file to a portable memory stick.
