Which model KitchenAid dishwasher do you have? On some models, the Control Lock can be toggled on/off by holding the Energy Saver Dry touch pad for at least 4 seconds or until the Control Lock light turns on or off.
On another model, the touch pad to press and hold is the 4 Hour Delay button. (On that model, you press and hold for 3+ seconds.) There is often a very tiny label below or on the touchpad indicating which key controls the Control Lock.
If you haven't held the button for long enough, pressing the other touch pads will lead to the Control Lock light blinking 3 times if the Control Lock is active.
If the press and hold method still doesn't work after several attempts, then you may have a problem with the control panel. The dishwasher may need repair.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number so that I can check if a different touch pad key is the correct one for the Control Lock.
Cindy Wells (the Control Lock feature keeps the dishwasher settings from being changed accidently or the unit started when it isn't needed. This can stop a child from resetting the dishwasher or the unit being started while you clean it.)
This depends on the exact model of the KitchenAid Superba dishwasher. There is a button on the control panel that will indicate the Control Panel Lock. Usually this is labeled Control Lock (Hold 3 sec) or 4 Hour Delay (Control Lck 3 Sec). The phrase in parentheses is below the key in a smaller font.
Press and hold the button to toggle the lock on and off. Sometimes you have to hold it for more than the listed 3 seconds.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (my reference was the manual for the KitchenAid KUDE40FXSP . Other KitchenAid appliance manuals are available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=KAD . Just enter the model number and the type of person researching the documentation (consumer).)
To turn on Lock, press and hold CONTROL LOCK button for 3 seconds.
The Control Lock light will stay on for a short time, indicating that it is activated, and all buttons are disabled.
If you press any button while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes 3 times and an audible tone will sound.
The dishwasher door can still be opened/closed while the controls are locked.
To turn off Lock, press and hold for 3 seconds. The light turns off.

Thanks for using FixYa. To turn off the child lock press and hold the
Energy saver Dry for 10-15 seconds. If this does not help the unfortunately you’ll
have to replace the control panel. Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further
assistance.
Most of the dishwasher in this series have an energy saver dry button. Hold this button in for four seconds and it should unlock the child safety lock. Does not work, try again for 30 seconds. Does not work. We have problem.
If your model does not have an energy safer button of any kind, then type in the model number and you should be able to find the manual online and open the same to find out how to unlock the child safety lock.
If all fails then you need an Electronic control board assembly, about $150 plus shipping from repair clinic.com. If you are at all handy, this is easy repair. Make sure you turn off the breaker or remove the fuse before you attempt any repairs.
Make sure the controls are not locked. Some units have the ability to lock the controls so that kids cannot turn on the dishwaher. You can also try unpugging the power to the unit from under the sink for about 10 minutes and then plug it back in. This may reset the control board if it has a fault and stopped from error code.
silly question but did you try holding the control lock button(perhaps its the heated dry button) in for 3 secs???? sonds as if the CONTROL LOCK has benn activated( child lockout)
