Shaky picture I have an old european sony trinitron tv that still works well in 480i. When I try to play old console games on this tv via scart 240p, the image is shaking. It seems to be a shift of one line that occurs at high frequencies. Do you know how it could be fixed?

The PlayStation 2 may natively output video resolutions on SDTV and HDTV from 480i to 480p while other games, such as Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy are known to support up-scaled 1080i resolution[38] using any of the following standards: composite video (480i), S-Video (480i), RGB (480i/p), VGA (for progressive scan games and PS2 Linux only), YPBPR component video (which display most original PlayStation games in their native 240p mode which most HDTV sets do not support), and D-Terminal. Cables are available for all of these signal types; these cables also output analog stereo audio. Additionally, an RF modulator is available for the system to connect to older TVs.
Digital (S/PDIF) audio may also be output by the console via its TOSLINK connector which outputs 2.0 PCM, and 5.1 channel sound in Dolby Digital and DTS formats.

If your "sega mega drive" has Bluetooth then try to Bluetooth that to your Smart TV

U can't mix European and American Electonics equipments devices together.Because European used a PAL signal frequencies in it electronics equipments devices.American used NTSC signal frequencies in it electronics equipments devices.Two frequencies signals don't mix.That why u getting a saky picture and black&white picture.

Instead of the 3 color coded cables for AV used the 5 color coded cables that were also included. I figured this out since the manual stated the AV cables were for 480i and the other cables were for 480p TV. I guess our Sony Trinitron was more advanced than I thought even though it is a '99 model. Anyway it works great now!

It's a bit of a pain as you'll have to re-establish your initial internet setup ( this is where keeping old passwords, etc, comes in handy ! ), but the only solution that will work is by resetting your PS3 to ' first time use ' ( not back to factory condition though ).
This may be an unwanted slog but if you've accidently changed the settings and can't remember how or why at least you'll know the initial sttings should work.
If you don't want to do this, try going to the screen settings and adjust one at a time ( loading a game in between ), also if you have a scart lead fitted ( as well as the HDMI lead ) make sure it's in the audio out and not in ' video ' ( the audio out will be a circuit between an audio scart socket on your tv and the red and white leads going back to your audio output device : active subwoofer, etc , the yellow lead plugs into the scart lead from the console via a plug point adaptor which goes straight into the scart on the tv set ).
AV Multi Out should not have to be performed as the leads out devices are the only ones which should be pressed to set.

Youve gotta reset your console,,and make sure you switch the video back when you get back on,,if its the ps3 ,,check your manual,, it tells u how to reset,, if the 360,, i would say check the same ,,hdmi is high def,, and scart is analog 480i thats why , must be reset. ,, unless you get a scart cable with component jacks ,, thats 1080i,, hdmi is either or 720p,,1080p,,1080i,,good luck

while on your hd tv go into the settings on ps3 for output and change it to scart

You need to change the resolution output on your PS3 to match the capabilities of your TV. If your TV is not HD you can't leave the PS3's video output on HD. SCART is for european television connections. Have you tried using component cables? Have you tried changing your tv's source to Video 1 or Component 1 or HDMI or anything that might work? When you connecting sony via hdmi sony and tv must be shut down.First turn on sony then tv.Connect also and av cable or scart then go to sony settings and change out signal via hdmi or scart or av cabel and confirm.That should work

I have the same problem, I was told to buy a HDMI CABLE I did
but it still wont work
