NOT ABOUT XBOX 360!!! This is about the original black Xbox from 2001. Everything seems to work fine, every game loads up without problem. But eventually, anywhere between 5-30 minutes it will power off on its own(with a faint clicking sound). There's no lights left on at all, it just completely powers off. To eliminate some irrelevant solutions; All button work fine, including power button. No blinking lights, no discolored rings. (This is the original Xbox, you only see lights when it's on. I don't want any useless 360 solutions) CD tray opens and closes without trouble. It's not too dusty, at least not enough to force a shutdown. Cords aren't twisted, they've never been strained (never twisted tightly around controller/console) I don't have the warranty. I lost that almost a decade ago. OR an instruction manual. Please help me.

hi there
one common problem is if you have other 2.4gzh around the house
try turning off your phones (uniden is a really common one that interferes) or if you have a wireless router change it to a different channel and see if it helps.

I can't remember if it ever did, but the power button on the Xbox below the large eject button doesn't glow green when the Xbox is on, only the eject button lights up green
Okay I think I found the problem.
Poor ventilation. I had my Xbox in a shelf under my TV. I placed my Xbox on the floor in front of my TV, I played for hours without any problems.
