You may have a thermal rollback issue. Try charging the chair overnight and leave the controller on while charging. This will give the control module/joystick time to reset themselves. Thermal rollback happens when a certain temperature in the motors is reached. The system shuts itself down to protect from damage.

SOURCE: new batteries chair slow

The amber lights just below the charge indicator have 5 steps. pushing the buttons once only moves it 1 time in the direction of the button pushed. Make sure that all 5 lights are on. The chair is only geared for about 4 to 4.5 MPH, That is about average walking speed. Good luck.

Joy stick power stays off when charged

If the joystick on your power wheelchair remains inactive even after charging, several issues may be at play. First, check if the charging process completes successfully, ensuring the battery is fully charged. If the joystick power persists to stay off, examine the joystick's connections and cables for any damage or disconnection. Additionally, inspect the battery terminals, ensuring they are clean and secure. If these steps don't resolve the problem, it may indicate a malfunction in the joystick itself, requiring professional diagnosis and potential replacement. Consult the wheelchair's user manual for specific troubleshooting steps or contact the manufacturer's customer support for guidance.

How do we charge this chair?

off board chargers plug into the front of the joystick. after 10-12 hrs the chair should be charged, Unless the batteries are bad, or the charger is bad. Plug into joystick before power cord into wall outlet. also charge every night!

How do I speed up a Merit Vision Sport?

As the user of the chair, you will not have the ability to speed up your chair unless you have the specific programmer to raise the speed. Typically mobility specialist will turn your speeds down until you get used to the chair and then come back out when you are capable of driving chair at faster speeds. You will have to call the dealer who slowed it down or, another DME company in your area to have the chair speed adjusted.

I need to know how to charge the batterie om my sisters merits wheelchair,i do not know how to plug it up,,or if the charger is located on the frame someplace or if its freestanding.plain and simple i do...

sking the off board charger is a 5 inch by 3 inch rectangular box with a power plug on one end and a round silver 3 prong plug on the other. The charger plugs into the charger port located under the front of the joystick. Plug the charger plug into the joystick and then into the wall socket. When it is fully charged the light on the chrager will turn from yellow to green. Unplug the power from the wall socket first then unplug from the joystick In ither words always have the charger unplugged when you plug the charger up to the chair Now if the chair has an onboard charger there should be a power cord that just plugs into the chair usually somewhere in the rear of the chair all you have to do is plug it into a wall socket and charge away Hope this helps you

Speed lights flash alltogether at the same time chair will not run

The chair is in sleep mode or lockout mode. To unlock-- turn on the chair, immediately push the joystick straight forward until you hear a beep then push it straight back until you hear another beep then release to center. This should unlock the joystick. Turn the chair off then back on and you should get normal operation Hope this helps

The chair will turn on with the push button but will not turn off. Have to disconnect controllor. Otherwise runs fine.

rblome You have a bad switch on the joystick. Now its not really the switch but the switch button. Under the button there was a metallic coating that makes contact with the cicuit board switch turning the chair on and off. If that coating gets worn then the switch doesn't wanna act right. Now if you feel creative and don't want to order a new faceplate then you can carefully peel the faceplate off the joystick (just far enough to expose the bottom of the on/off switch, put a small block under the faceplate to keep the bottom exposed) and taking a small piece of foil glue it to the bottom of the on/off switch. after it dries trim the foil to fit the size of the switch bottom and disconnect the joystick cable at the rear of the chair and carefully reinstall the faceplate making sure that you get the switch into its hole in the joystick. You might have to put a small dab of glue to the top of the faceplate that rests on the case to keep it down and in place. (Now I didn't tell you how to do this its our secret) plug the cable back in and try the switch it should work fine but it will be sensitive to turning on/off. Hope this helps

Merits DL 5.21 Electric Wheelchair. I need an owner's manual for it please?

Starla Oldham

It appears that there is no manual listed online, but I think that is because you are reading off the DL 5.21 from the controller and that is just the controller model which is made by an electronics company not Merits. The models start with 'P' and 'R'
