1) Make sure your battery is at least 50% charged.
2) Open the menus and go to the tab with the wrench.
3) Highlight "Lock mirror up for cleaning".
4) Follow the triangular arrow to the right and lock the mirror up (don't worry that it is already locked up).
5) Turn the camera's power off. Wait a few seconds and power it back on. The mirror should release.

First, make sure your battery is fully charged. Next, look at page 182 in you camera's manual. This hyperlink will take you to a copy of the D3100 manual on the Nikon USA website: http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/kie88335f7869dfuejdl=-cww2/D3100_EN.pdf . Follow the procedure from the beginning. With a little luck, your mirror will release and return to the normal position. What ever you do, do not touch the surface of the mirror because it is front surfaced and can be easily damaged and do not touch the sensor.

Nikon d3100 how to unlocked my memory card

I do not have a D3100, but if it is like other Nikons, you slide the memory card door open (located on right side of the camera body). You will see the edge of the memory card. The retaining mechanism is spring loaded. Push in on the edge of the card and it should release the card which will spring outward. Now just pull the card out. There should be no resistance. To replace the card, open the door; face the card with the label toward you and with the copper contacts on the left side facing away from you. Push the card inward until it clicks into place and close the door.

How can I take photos whenever the mirror lock up is effect

You can't take photos when mirror is in lock up mode. That is used to clean the sensor(dangerous to do if not properly equipped!). Turn off power to camera to snap mirror back up and then you can switch to manual mode to shoot long exposures. Hope this helps!!

I have a Nikon d3100 and when I take a picture the top third is black, why???

Put the camera on bulb and look in the mirror box while firing the camera, and check to make sure the shutter is fully open. It sounds like you have a broken shutter

Of course it's fixable. Only an inspection at a Nikon service facility can tell you the extent of damage and give you an estimate. (lesson learned...always use the neckstrap). In the meantime, you could remove the lens, fire off a few shots and see if the mirror is flipping up and whether the shutter is opening.

This sounds like mirror lock up, a very common occurrence if the batteries are dead, so try giving them a full charge (i.e. overnight or at least twice as long as it takes for the recharging light to go out). I

If that fails and the camera is brand new, then the first three months of intensive use are usually when any manufacturing faults show up, so take it back for refund or exchange.
