The mean is (1+5+9)/3 = 5.
The squared deviations are (1-5)^2=16, (5-5)^2=0, and (9-5)^2=16.
The sum of the squared deviations are 16+16 = 32.
Divided by one less than the number of data points, 32/(3-1) = 16.
The square root of 16 is 4. This is the sample standard deviation.

Porpo YH2000. How do I do basic calculations (mode 1)?

Quite simple with your PORPO calculator, you might wanna first press the reset button which is usually at the back of the calculator with a small pin or pen, then you're set to go.

(1) Press the "MODE + 2"
This brings you to the standard deviation mode on the calculator

(2) To input the numbers you wish to work on, say (1,2,3,4,5)
Press "1" then press "DATA" button, this will display "n=1" meaning you have imputed 1;
Subsequently, press "2" and hit "DATA" again meaning you've imputed 2;
Repeat this cycle till you've imputed 1,2,3,4,5 successfully

(3) Now hit "SHIFT + 2" or "SHIFT + 3" (as the case may apply) for standard deviation

(4) Could also find mean, summation etc by hitting "Shift + (whichever number is applicable as shown on the calculator button)"

I keep on getting domain error when calculating inverse normal with aera: .025 mean: 1 and standard deviation: 0 on my TI 89

This is to be expected. A standard deviation of 0 means that all the data points are identical. Asking for the point below which .025 of the data lie is meaningless.

2nd vars 2 (normalcdf( -999999,-.1923) Just trying to get area from z value -.0.1923 keep getting errors

The normalcdf function takes three arguments: the z value, the mean, and the standard deviation. In the "standard" case the mean is 0 and the standard deviation is 1. Thus, try calculating
normalcdf(-.1923, 0, 1) .

Removing zeroes?

You're right in that the calculator thinks you have 19 data points. You need to delete the nine unwanted rows. After pressing EDIT, press NXT to bring up the second set of editing functions. Scroll down to each unwanted row and press B for -ROW to delete it.

Or else simply delete the Sigma-DAT variable in the current directory and start over.
