Convergence issues It looks like a have convergence issues with my WS-48511 the bottom half of the screen has a rainbow effect going on. What can I do to fix this problem?

This would be a convergence adjustment. Check your user menu on the tv. Look for an item under video settings for a something called "Converge" or "Convergence". See if you can adjust it enough to fix the problem. If not, you may need to access the service menu and adjust from there.

I am guessing that you did the convergence menu 1.CONVERGENCE MENU "MENU 2159, 4 FINE, 5 COARSE, 6 MISC
2. There are Fuses F9A04 & 05 that may be open.
3. If you do the self test do you come up with 2-2?
4. Self-test on threads here or at ctechnicians.com
5. If one or both fuses open you will need to change convergence amps and parts.(Kit)

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

• Screen looks 3D

• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. This is likely your convergence IC solder connections. Does it look bowed and rainbow colored? The red, green, and blue will be mis-aligned causing a shadow effect. If you can bump it then the ICs (chips) are still ok, it just needs resoldering.

i went to converge my mitsubishi ws 73903 and the blue line wont go down to match the other ones
