Have a dell 1710. When turned on the TonerLow and Error button shine solid.

When pressing other buttons I get a secondary light sequence: Ready button and Error button shine solid.

You need to replace the drum and toner to correct the issue. That's the sign of the drum at its end of life.

I swapped Photoconductors from 2 other 1710's; no go. Reset?

Problem
Dell 1700 printer prints out a page announcing that “the photoconductor has reached its useable life and it needs to be replaced for a new one”. You replace the photoconductor for a new one and the error light is still blinking and the printer keeps on printing the above mentioned page.
Solution
Steps to Reset the Photoconductor:
  1. Power off printer
  2. Open the front cover.
  3. Press the continue button; while pressing the continue button power on the printer and wait (still pressing the continue button) until the error led is solid, then release the continue button.
  4. Close the front door, all light should be solid.
  5. Wait until POST finishes.
  6. Press the Cancel button 4 times slowly, the toner led should be solid.
  7. Press the Continue button until all lights go up and down, then release; the Toner Low led is solid.
  8. Power off printer and then back on.
  9. Press continue button once, print a test page.
  10. Check the information about the photoconductor in test page, it should display an OK status.

Note: if these steps don’t work for the first time repeat three times. If still the steps don’t work, the printer needs to be replaced for a new one.

DELL Laser printer 1700/1700n

All flashing lights for the Dell 1700 series (1700, 1710, 1720 including those that have n or dn as part of the model) printers is a service related error. When double pressing the continue button twice quickly, the printer will give a secondary error code, narrowing down the printer part being effected. It is possible to even narrow the error code down even futher by double pressing the continue button and taking note of which combination of lights come on, wether they are steady or blinking. Most generally when this series of printers, when you get all flashing lights, something major is going on with the printer. It could be pointing to the fuser, or main board, etc. You can call dell warranty support and they will help narrow down which part is being effected. Most generally, what is being effected is not cost effective to get fixed if you are no longer under warranty.

Dell 1710

If that is the only light:
Remove the toner cartridge and firmly shake it from side-to-side and front-to-back several to use the
remaining toner, and then reinsert it and continue printing. Repeat this procedure multiple times until
the print remains faded. When the print remains faded, replace the toner cartridge

If not let me know.

More or less your printer fuser has gone bad. Replace the fuse. I suggest that when buying a printer you don't with dell 1710N these printers gives a lot a problem. I work with them every day at work.

I suggest that you go with HP.
