Hi: I have a 3 year old Maytag stove with 4 sealed burners. The front left burner will not light, and there is no clicking sound from the igniter, as there is from the other 3 burners, all of which work fine. My repairman says the igniter is replaced as a unit, for about 225.00. Does this sound right ( Thats about 1/2 what I paid for the stove new) Is this a difficult fix? I am handy with tools but the liability ( its a rental) scares me.
Thanks for your advice, Gary
This is an easy problem to fix. If your repair man is correct and it is the spark module and not a wire harness problem you can pick up a spark module as sears for about $37 and it only takes a couple of minutes to install. Just pull off the back panel and replace the module. This is a repair that anyone can do. I would recommend unplugging the unit before replacing.
