Coffee maker water does not heat

Has sufficient water, filter and ground coffee are loaded in attachment and it is properly fixed in position. Pot in place. Toggle to ''On'' and switch lights up but no water heats. Was working properly yesterday. Nothing unusual has happened since. Suggestions?

Unless you have a real expensive coffee maker, it is cheaper to just replace it at this point. chances are the heating element has burned in two.

Why won't the hot water empty into the coffee pot?

Make sure your caraffe has its lid on , and check the bottom of the filter. it usually has a valve preventing coffee from leaking when you remove the caraffe. the lid pushes the valve back open when you place the caraffe back into the machine.

Coffee grounds in the coffee pot. It appears water does not flow into pot quickly enough, so filter basket overfills and causes grounds to go up and over the filter, then flow into pot. Also heat plate...

From what you described, it sounds like your carafe isn't fitting properly. The lid of the carafe is supposed to open a valve on the bottom of the filter basket. If this valve is clogged or not opening completely, that will produce your symptoms. Also, the warming element will not keep carafe hot if the carafe isn't sitting properly.

No pot or instructions, how much water do you put in the coffee pot?Need a replacement pot for vp17 series. thank you

You should be able to pick up a replacement/new pot at your nearest Restaurant Supply store. Make sure you get a 64 oz./ 1/2 gallon pot.
Before plugging in your brewer, unscrew the sprayhead located just above where the filter basket sits and replace the basket, pour 3 pots of cold water through the opening on the top if the brewer is empty. This brewer has a reservoir that holds about 2 1/2 pots of water at brewing temperature when heated. Make sure you put an empty pot under the filter basket after pouring in the water. Water will flow from the brew basket when the reservoir has reached its capacity. Once water flows you can then plug in and energize your brewer and replace the sprayhead. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes for the brewer to reach brew temp, you will hear the heating stop. Put an empty filter and a dose of coffee (I recommend starting with a heaping measuring cup of drip ground coffee) into the filter basket, lightly shake it level, replace the basket and pour through 1 full pot of COLD water in the top. For best results pour the brewed coffee into a pre-heated thermal server if you plan on holding the coffee for more than 10 minutes or so.
Enjoy!

My friend gave me a Bunn thermal home coffee maker and I don't know how to make it work and can't seem to find directions on line?

Depending on which maker and how old it is it may have a switch for the heating element. The BUNN brewers have a reservoir inside that needs to be topped off BEFORE energizing the heating element/plugging it in. This usually will require about 3 pots being poured through until water starts to flow from the filter basket. (Have a pot in place to catch the water) Then it is safe to plug in your machine. After it heats up (about 20 minutes) you can load your grounds and pour through a pot of COLD water and voila... coffee.
Also, due to the reservoir you will want to not shut off or unplug your brewer... then it will be ready to brew next time.

Will not percolate. Water is poured, it heats up, no coffee brew

Bunn Home brewers don't perculate. They work the same way that commercial brewers do. Fillit with water, let it heat for about 20 minutes, then put your filter and coffee grounds in the funnel, pour a pot of water into the machine, put the pot on the warmer, and let the water run through. Then enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee.

Bunn coffee maker leaks all over the counter. What

there's probably a 'silicon rubber' hose that feeds hot water to the 'grounds basket'- it may be loose, or damaged. is it leaking water, or coffee?? we have a bunn 8-cup, which has a pre-heated water tank that brews a pot in about 3 min. energy waster, but when you need coffee, you need coffee!!! is your filter holder properly centered? is the carafe lid hole clean and un-obstructed?
if it's leaking water, and not too costly to replace- you may consider replacing it with a new one!
good luck!

After the machine beeps "ready" the filter is still full of water

Make sure the lid is on the caraffe, or else it will not make the proper contact with the filter basket (and hence the filter basket will be forced into the closed position).

Can I adjust the water flow for finely ground coffee?

You probably have coffee ground for a drip coffee pot, not an automatic drip coffee maker. With a drip coffee pot, you put the coffee in and add the hot water on top of that. You might want to try a coffee press. They are fantastic for the finer grinds of coffee. Some Mexican coffees are ground almost as fine as flour and a press works great. You can get a press for about $12 & up.
