My Troy-bilt generator will not generate watts

I have a Troy bilt 7800 13500 generator. It has maybe 40 hrs on it. And It stopped working. I took it into a shop to have it fixed. Repair cost would be $1000.00 I paid 1200 for it. Shop said the 3 main parts of the generator were fried. The Generator was bought in 2005 and only like 40 hrs on it and it is dead. Troy bilt will not help out with the repair because it is to old, yet it has no real run time on it. Now the generator is just a paper weigh

I have a similar problem, however the root cause was user error. I had an 8000/13500 generator. I hooked it to an electric furnace and smartly disabled one of the two 6KW heating elements to keep the load under 8KW. It stopped producing electricity a few hours later. So what't the problem? It was dawing 6KW on one phase. The generator produces 8KW on 2phase 220V. The max load on each phase is 4KW. Oops. The load should also be balanced between both phases if possible. I hope this helps prevent others from burning out their generator.
