Running Windows 8.1 in Chrome on HP Pavilion, 500 PC. Chrome v. 32.0.1700. Clicking on a link in How-to Geek takes me back to the START screen instead of opening new tab or window for the link material. I use Outlook occasionally, although my preferred e-mail is Gmail. Any suggestions? Many thanks.
Try using Mozilla Thunderbird as your desktop-based email client. It's much more maintainable and easy to migrate from computer to computer. Plus you can even download a portable version and keep it encrypted if that suits your taste. Can't say the same for Outlook. There are web based versions though, but that's not for everyone.
For your browser, I'd highly recommend avoiding the official Google Chrome. The derivatives are often better and even have some security and privacy issues mitigated. There is Comodo Dragon Chrome, Cool Novo Chrome, then there's Opera which is another great browser and if I'm not mistaken, also uses the Chromium Engine like Google Chrome.
All of those browsers support the latest plugins and so on. All of those software names will be #1 on most internet search engines so you can't get lost.

4.clear the check box for the Add-in that you want to disable and then click OK.
