SOURCE: I have a goodman Model CKL 36-1K . It says Factory Charge oz R22 . Does that mean it uses R22 freon? The guy who sold it to me says it uses 410a and was only 2 or 3 years old. The serial # is 04063707

Hello, the unit is a 3 ton and was built in 2004. 0z R22 stands for R-22 refrigerant. Not sure why he told you 410a but if the unit says R-22 than that must be used.

Have a chiller that holds 180 lbs of 407c had a tech add 4.5 lbs of r22. should we recover a recharge or is that small amount not an issue.

R 22 will intoxicate the system due to different compatibilities with lubricant.
The 407 uses Ester and 22 mineral oil. R22 in a Esters oil environment may cause gunk.
Install proper labeling indicating loud and clear that the system is not R22 for future reference.
You know what needs to be done.

RUUD central air conditioner...how to verify Freeon gas?

Typically the M# has the identification on if the unit uses R22 or R410. Look at the data plate. Or get the M# S#

Goodman CKL 42-1B freezing up what is the R22 capacity

The capacity is not important unless it is empty. If it was empty it wouldn't be freezing. You should be charging with subcooling and superheat.

How much R22 should my unit hold when fully charged

If it has enough freon to freeze up then its not that low. Normally a 4-5 ton cooling only (non heatpump) will hold 7-9 lbs r-22 or 9-11 r-410a. Freezing can be caused by dirty air entering side of the coil also. Or slow blower

I just had my AC unit checked as part of a duct cleaning package. The final step was the technician checking the freon levels at my outside unit. He attached gauges and told me that my unit is 2lbs low....

If he only added R-22 for 5 seconds, then no, it did not take 2 lbs. Even if this was possible, the R-22 being upside down, (meaning it was charged in a liquid state), it would flood the compressor and more than likely cause damage. Now, it does not take long to add 2 lbs, charging with liquid, but almost impossible in 5 seconds with refrigerant already in the system. Sorry to hear about your situation, unfortunately I hear this same scenario far too often.

This is a 3 1/2 Ton unit that is low on R22 but still does cool enough to freeze up. The A/C tech insists that it needs over 4lbs of freon, does this seem right to you?

Hello TF YES to make ice on low freon you lost more than 1/2 of the factory/system charge.4 lbs is about rite.I would like to find the freon leak as you will always have to replace the gas every now & again untill found & repaired.
