Epson Stylus Photo R300 has error message, "Service required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your Printers documentation for details" Can't find correct document. One reply says "reset ink absorber first ". How, nothing will move on printer ?

I apologize for a delayed response as i was not at my desk.

I am sorry to hear regarding the problem.Unfortunately, this is a common problem on this printer.There is only one reset procedure that might work. Press and hold the ' Stop ', 'Maintenance ' and ' Power ' buttons for about 10 seconds.Then turn the printer off, and back on.

Note - You still need to get the ink absorber changed.

The repair is not economical as Epson would charge anywhere between $100 - $300 for repair. You could look for the below procedure to DIY :

Epson programmed their printer to monitor the waste ink counter andyour printer has reached the maximum value allowed, you have to resetyour printer to clear the waste ink counter.

To reset the counter, download re-setter program here, install and follow the instruction in the web site.

Ok.. aside from the fact that you've posted under the R300 Epson model thread you're still in luck.

The CX6600 has been documented (by me admittedly) with a complete guide to fitting an external tank and resetting the waste ink counter in the printer.
