What is a wep key and how do i find it

A WEP key is a security code used on some Wi-Fi networks. WEP keys allow a group of devices on a local network (such as a home network) to exchange encoded messages with each other while hiding the contents of the messages from easy viewing by outsiders. WEP keys are chosen by a network administrator. WEP keys are set on Wi-Fi Routers and other wireless network devices. Matching WEP keys must be set on each device for them to communicate with each other.

We are trying to sign on to our home network but the WEP key, after entering, keeps saying settings are invalid. What exactly is the WEP key? What do we need to do?

Are you trying to connect to your internet connection for wireless? If it is, the WEP key is the password that you set up for your wireless device so that devices that can see the your wireless network will be able to connect by entering the right WEP key. If you didnt change the WEP key of your modem or router, then the default WEP key will be found at the back of your device, but if you had changed it before then, that's the WEP key that you need to enter.

WEP stands for Wireless Encryption Protocol and it is the wireless key for your router.

I need wep key westell model 327w

Unfortunately, no one could not provide you any WEP key. WEP is a key that you set to your router so that no one could connect to your wireless network. As an owner of the network, you should know what your network key was.

If you forgot your WEP key, you need to reset the router to factory default, configure it and set a new WEP key.

That is the only way. Thank you!
