How to Connect Laptop with TV in Different Ways
To play Blu-ray movies, a Blu-ray drive is not all you need to have. A Blu-ray drive is the hardware preparation. On the software wise, you also need a Blu-ray player application installed on your computer, such asLeawo Blu-ray Player
The specifications of this laptop states that it has a Dual layer DVD R/W drive. This drive can only play DVDs and CDs but not BluRay discs and it can burn single and dual layer DVDs and CDs.

i have a gateway DX4870 computer using windows8 o/s with HDMI however i am not getting audio from hdmi port?
to anon. 4970
here is my complex desktop with gtx1650
it has many ports for monitors and sound.
it is complex. but as users you need to learn how to use this screen, and pick the output you have connected. the GPU driver must not be wrong. this answers dead sounds,
I need to know what is on the other end of that HDMI cable and was not told, so no comment there. but it too must be BLue ray compliant
to a TV? sure, what TV
to HDMI monitor what monitor? none told no joy there.
here are the DRM rules for Blueray.
besides only sound setup wrong above.
Hyjacker never said movies ODD or just modern BR sound Disks. hark.
but. video?
1:a blu-ray player ODD. DRM certified.
2:HDMI or DP video card /port/chip DRM certified.
3: cable HDMI DRM supported. HDCP too.
4: PC player that works? , MS and VLC fail.
now that is a hard nut to crack.
read this, see how VLC is not the same in MS store as is the VLC on the french web site.
amazing MS neuters it. The UWP version sux.
also some ODD drives just dont work on PCs.
unless upgraded. BR=disk ODD.
best quote.
"Blue Ray has digital Rights Management and changing encryption certificates.
VLC has never played AACS encrypted blueray.
There is no support for piracy or handbrake or violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act here and never will be.
The fix is to buy a USB2 blueray drive that comes with Cyberlink Powerdvd playback software."

as you can see they do not want you to play blu-ray on PCs, as we they know all PC owners are Pirates.(sarc off)
why the pain with BR oDD movie disks.
the Blu-ray disc protection has remained secure due to the fact that it uses a range of different technologies, such as AACS, BD+ and BD-ROM mark. While this is good news for content owners, it is bad news for the rest of us, as it makes the technology computer unfriendly.
The drive comes with Cyberlink’s PowerDVD player OEM version. Right from the start, the installation was clunky and unfriendly.
Some disks still don't play unless this software for PowerDVD is upgraded.
gone are the days of DVD you can take with you and play anywhere. (BR ends that feature)
MOBILITY.
so buy only DVD disks no limits there.
if not having a 300" inch TV. UHD.
it's so secure, it is not mobile.
even on vacation far from home country fails too. even for region and DRM both. or DRM versions wrong, wow, versions.
