Re: want to know how i can reformat hp ze 4300
Instructions
-
Step 1
Back up all of the important data on the machine, especially the files in the “My Documents” and “Shared Documents” folders.
-
Step 2
Locate the original installation discs for all of the software that is installed on the machine.
-
Step 3
Download
all of the latest drivers for the computer's hardware from the site of
the computer manufacturer or the hardware manufacturer.
-
Step 4
Insert the Windows
installation disk into the CD-ROM drive and reboot the computer. Press
a key to boot from CD when prompted by the installation disc. If the
computer continues to boot from the hard drive, follow the instructions
in the computer's documentation to set the BIOS to boot from CD first.
-
Step 5
Press
the “Enter” key at the installation options screen. When the software
licensee is displayed, press “F8” to agree to it. The installation will
scan the computer’s hard disk for some basic information.
-
Step 6
Press the “Esc” button if the software offers to repair the previous Windows XP installation. A list of the hard drive partitions on the system will be displayed.
-
Step 7
Select
the partition containing the Windows installation. In most cases, it
will be the only partition listed, and on others, it will be the
largest partition listed. Press the “D” key to delete the partition,
and press "L" and "Enter" to confirm the choice.
-
Step 8
Create
a new partition in the freed space by pressing the “C” key and press
“Enter” to make the partition the maximum allowable size.
-
Step 9
Select
the newly created partition, and press “Enter” to install Windows XP on
it. Format the drive to the “NTFS” file system, and follow the prompts
to continue the installation. Do not select the “Quick” option, because
it may leave certain structures of the old file system intact.
-
Step 10
When
the new copy of Windows XP boots, it will ask some configuration
questions, and then it will begin looking for hardware. Install all of
the drivers for the hardware on the system, and reboot the machine as
required. Then, install all of the software that will be needed on the
computer, and copy all personal files into the new installation.
-
Step 11
Ensure
that anti-virus software, anti-spyware software, and a firewall are
installed and configured correctly. These programs will help to protect
the new Windows XP installation and keep it performing well.
