Need manual for ra 840bx4 & wattage output when remote speakers?
Just got RA 840bx4 off ebay ($174), if switch for bypassing tone control/mono is used, may or may not cause R speaker to cut out, if R not working, sl. pressure back to centre (cutout) position will Bring R back online and MAY stay operational. Also no manual & would like to know wattage output with remote speakers engaged/disengaged. At moment trying to compare sound quality against NAD 3020i (unfortunately using NAD T512 DVD/etc player), waiting on Rotel RCD 930AX from EBAY in next couple of Days. Speakers - Tannoy Mercury M2 on stands, Richter wizards - not sure of year model, oblong speaker grills not oval, also have pair Richter bookshelfs about 15-16 inches high - no serial no.
PROBLEM ; audition sound quality with one amp, then need to disconnect player from 1 amp and reconnect to 2nd amp, repeat for speakers, then restart music and try to recal quality, CONSIDERING switchbox from **** smith/Tandy(YUK) to speed up A/B comparison listening times, (BUT, likely big loss of quality due to switchbox, therefore wasted effort/time) .
CDs - James Blunt, Dark side Moon, Roger Waters ''Amused to Death'' (INCREDIBLE Q Sound - Try it, Warning; lyrics pretty likely to offend untill you work out the deeper story -?''Concept Album'' like Dark Side...), Dire Straits, DMP music catalogue-supposedly somewhat like HDCD/SACD-seems hi quality, Loreena McKennett -''Themask and the mirror''. Thanks for Advice/Wisdom in advance.
Rotel Amp supposedly in all working condition, irritated by Tone cutout switch prob. but supposedly good amp at OK price, Maybe local Audio Fixit guy would be option for switch unless minor symptom of MAJOR problem. 1 New amp, so many considerations!
Re: need manual for ra 840bx4 & wattage output when...
Lets try the simple stuff first. This whole problem could be caused by a dirty switch contact. Pick up some electronics cleaner from a local electronics shop and spray the switch (from the inside of the unit). Work the switch on/off a number of times then respray one more time. That should clean out any dirt that is there. Try the unit again and hopefully the problem is resolved. If not, then the switch itself may need to be replaced. When you get the cleaner, get one that contains a lubricant as well. This will help to prevent the problem from coming back again.

Hi there. In my personal experience, I would advise to buy a remote control straight from the dealer. All you would need to do is contact them with the model of your radio and state that you need a remote for it. If you buy a remote from ebay or amazon you may get a defective one. Mine only lasted a month. Here is the contact information for Savv Mobile Multimedia. Good luck! Location

Check for a stereo/ mono switch in the front or back, and make sure it wasn't accidentally switched in the wrong position. Also check and make sure the wires are not crossing each other causing a short.
it may be an open input side coupling capacitor in the feedback circuit around the power amp. if the amp has a limiter in it it may be stuck. here is the service manual, in any case.
on bridge mode the speaker impedance should be 8ohms, less than this clipping will happen. try bridging two 4 ohms in series.
if this happens without speaker connected, u have a power amp section that is trying to draw more power than it can handle. as for the second check connections first, otherwise i suspect u have a defective power amp for the right channel.
No, furthermore, UNDER-powered amps are more dangerous to speakers than over-powered ones since they begin to distort badly at much lower power outputs. Distortion kills speakers.
There is an override sequence and it works well. Press the select button (checkmark) to indicate Main menu. Press right-arrow (RA) to select System Setup. Press Select , then RA to Print Quality, Hit select. RA to Replace supplies and hit Select. Now, RA to Override Out and Select. Confirm with Select again. Your 2600n will now run even with an empty toner cartridge.
I know this is a little late but I have one and the hookup is very easy, On the right side of the amp there is a six pin plug. Above it it says BATT REMOTE GND. The two pins below BATT are the battery (V+). The pin below REMOTE is the (V+) switched turn on. The two pins below GND are the ground. The rest is simple. Two RCA inputs. The switch to select MONO(R), STEREO, or MONO(L) works as explained. If you want stereo, put the switch in the middle and supply two inputs and two speakers. The MONO(R) and MONO(L) are to select a single input that will supply a single (bridged) output. Connect two speakers and they will supply the same source or connect one speaker to the outer speaker terminals for higher power output. The variable or fixed switch just bypasses the GAIN CONTROL knobs(used for Alpine's 8 pin DIN plug on unit, for older EQ's and head units.
