The tray 2 lifter-motor is not functioning
Unfortunatly this usually requiers parts
1 Turn the printer off and then on.
2 If the error persists, turn the printer off.
3 Verify that the tray 2 lifter wire-harness is full seated in its connector on the dc controller PCA (location J93).
4 Replace the tray 2 lifter-driver assembly
-If the unit is still clicking/banging with a new lifter replace the tray
-If the unit is still clicking/banging with a new lifter and tray see step 5
5 Replace the dc controller PCA.

If you scanner error 5 or printer hangs at scanner bulb warming up than the issue is with Scanning Assembly inside the printer and it is hardware issue.

I had the same problem...I seriously considered getting a new printer since I've had my faithful 5510 AIO for like, six years...but what I did was grab some witch hazel and a q-tip. Dipped the q-tip in, wiped down all copper contacts on the carriage and also on the print cartridge...blew on it to air dry...popped it back in and viola! It's back to normal.

An error code showing that there is paper jam alert, but no paper is in anywhere in the machine except in the tray.....I have checked all areas, taken the back carriage of the unit, opened the top and opened the machine. removed the paper tray, everything, but there is no paper stuck in the unit
This printer tracks the number of pages printed on the fuser, and a reminder message will appear when the fuser reaches a certain page count. The message will instruct you to replace your fuser. Whenever you install a new fuser, you should reset the fuser page count so the warning message will not appear prematurely.
To reset the fuser count :
1. Press MENU to enter the MENUS.
2. Press Down arrow to highlight Configure Device.
3. Press Checkmark to select Configure Device.
4. Press Down arrow to highlight RESETS.
5. Press Checkmark to select RESETS.
6. Press Down arrow to highlight RESET SUPPLIES.
7. Press Checkmark to select RESET SUPPLIES.
8. Press Down arrow to highlight NEW FUSER KIT.
9. Press Down arrow to select NEW FUSER KIT.
10. Press Down arrow to highlight YES.
11. Press Checkmark to select YES.
The fuser count will be reset and then the printer is ready to use.
