Which Dell 113x do you have? There are the Dell 1130 and Dell 1130n Monochrome laser printers that do not have a scanning unit. In general, for multi-function printers, the unit must be in a ready to print state. (Out of ink messages will stop the unit from scanning.) Next the full software package should be installed before connecting the USB cable, if that is used. If the OS finds the drivers, you may only get the printer drivers.

Next two-way communication must be allowed. For a USB cable, don't use a cable longer than 6' and replace it if there is a communication error. For a network connection, make sure that the firewall is set up to allow the communication. Finally, try to launch a scan from the computer, using the software that is part of the full package. You will need to have a scanning monitor launched during boot to look for button presses on the scanner. This monitoring software requires some setup before it correctly responds to the button presses. For Windows, this is the Dell Scan and Fax Manager (on the 1135n). You need to enter the Properties section for the printer. Then go to the Set Scan Button tab and use the Available Applications list to move the desired applications to the Front Panel Scan Destination. You should also set the file type here. In the Scan Property section, set the default destination for scanned images, the standard resolution, and other items. Also make sure to set the type of connect in the Change Port tab. 1.first check if the printer is detected by the computer in devices and printers,
2.go to services.msc ,.. stop and start the print spooler service and print and see
3. U can try the troubleshoot step under devices and printer for ur desired printer. and it should work.

What are the PCL Drivers that you are using for the printer. Normally, Changing/installing different PCL drivers fix the issue.
For Ex, If you are using PCL6 drivers, try PCL5e

Ive got a Dell 1130n that was jamming once it came out towards the top. if you take the top off (2 screws in front and 2 screws in the back) and the rollers right there at the back (once you get the top off) take that long "roller bar" and the springs that push up on that bar just slightly stretch them out and clean the rubber wheels with soap and water (allow to dry) and put everything back together. Also the wheels in the back could be cleaned too. If you open the rear cover there is another "roller bar", there are grey clips on each side that if you pull down the click into place, just unsnap the "roller bar" and clean these wheels as well. It has worked great for me so far.
