Touched the shutter curtains

I was reloading film in my Nikon N65 and accidentally touched the shutter curtains ... The two center curtains are slightly misaligned and warped, but not creased, torn or broken. Instead of being flat and level, they are bumping up somewhat.

What kind of effect will this have on shooting, if any? Should I take it to a shop for repair (and if so, how much will it cost?) If I can do it myself, what do I need to do and what tools will I need?

    What would be a reasonable price for a repair? I may only have tomorrow to get it repaired, as I am traveling and may not be able to use a repair shop in Providence (summer program.)

    What is a reasonable price to pay for a repair? I would need same-day, if possible - I am traveling and may not be able to get it repaired at my next stop.

Yes it will have an affect on your shooting. The curtains will not operate correclty if they are opening and closing at different speeds and / or not closing or opening completely. Your film will expose at different levels, and you will not get a correctly composed shot. You could try to coax the curtain back into place by GENTLY rubbing it with a Q-tip in the direction it is supposed to go. But those things are fragile and can be fickle. Your best bet is to take it to a shop.

How do i advance the film to the next frame in my Nikon N65

The Nikon N65 has a built-in film advance (power winder) so all you need to do is take a photo and it should advance. If no, the film isn't loaded properly or the drive is broken.

How to change the shutter speed on my nikon n65 film 35mm slr camera

In the manual and shutter-priority modes (set the dial to "M" or "S"), turn the command dial to change the shutter speed. In the aperture-priority mode (set the dial to "A"), turning the command dial changes the aperture and the camera will set the shutter speed appropriately.

If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

I bought new batteries for my N65 and my camera keeps blinking ERR.

The manual mentions only 2 conditions where the Err message appears. First if it is Err + E at the same time, the film has not completely wound and needs to be reloaded.

If it is Err alone, the manual states to fire the shutter and see if the message remains. If it does, to contact a Nikon Authorized Service Rep.

I was loading film into my Nikon EM for the first time and it wouldn't work so I had to take it out, then I pressed the shutter and it closed and it didn't open back up so I played around with the shutter...

You can't touch the shutter curtain at all on any film camera and the cost of repairing that curtains far exceeds the cost/value of the camera. Sorry for the bad news but the only thing worth anything on the camera now is the lens.

I have a Nikon EM and was loading the film and trying to make it work but then all of a sudden the shutter closed and wouldn't open. So I played around with the shutter curtains and now they're broken and...

This question was or has been posted twice. As I said the shutter curtain damage will cost more to repair then the camera is worth and the only thing to save is the lens.

N65 will not focus or shoot

Make sure it has good fresh batteries. Look at the film, make sure it is loaded correctly, or that there is film in the camera. and last look at the shutter. Open the back of the camera and the shutter is right in front of the film on the lens side of the back. if there shutter is not flat, but one or more of the little black blades are out of place then that is the problem. That shoud be sent back for service. It is not something you can push back into place without potentially doing more damage.

Nikon N65

cmhennings,
If you haven't found out by now mode settings are:
M = Manual
A = Aperture
S = Shutter
P = Program
If you are looking for a manual or just a camera manual in general check the public library photographic section to learn more about film cameras, you may find a N65 book
