How do I make a conference call?

Hi this is a great feature on the Samsung Prostar, I actually find the screen prompts easier to follow than the pre-programmed button. Whilst on a call the display will read ' CONF PAGE MUTE' press the 1st small button under CONF. then dial the number, externally or internally, that you want to bring into the conference. then press CONF again twice, this links the members together, you will see that the CONF is now under the 3rd softkey. up to 5 people can be on a call at one time if you have enough channels (lines) available. I have uploaded a video which will help explain this better or visit www.abbeytelecom.com , I hope that this is of some help.

Feature 71

If you have a manual, look up RECALL or FLASH or LINK. Specifically Feature 70 and FEAT 71. In your spare button set, you probaly have gray buttons labeled CONF/TRANS and LINK. Now you use them depends on how you are transferring calls. Are you on Centrex or do you have 3 way Conference calling from the telco? That's the one where you can establish a 3 way call and hang up and the other two parties stay connected. If you have that, you'll use the LINK button to get second dial tone, dial your number, and press LINK again to establish a 3-way. LINK time is defaulted at 600 mS, and is adjusted in A 4. Misc programming under LINK. You may just have 3-way calling, and that means the middle party has to stay on the call.

If you don't have 3-way conferencing, you can use the system to conference (using two lines), and the CONF/TRANS button. There may be some disconnect supervision (ie DS cabinet) issues, Supervised/Unsupervised programmnig changes, and transmission losses in conferencing, so your mileage may vary. Best would be maybe to conference with a VoIP trunk or other lossless facility. Anyway, you put the first call on hold, make the second call, then press CONF and the held line to establish a 3-way. At this point, if you have Disconnect Supervision, you can press conference again and leave the call, or put the call on HOLD to keep it on your phone and the other 2 parties can still talk to each other.

Conference call with a Polycom SoundStation EX

The conferencing capability to bridge 2 (or more) external stations comes from the telephone equipment/service that you have purchased. Either you are behind a PABX or Electronic KSU, which provides multiple phone service to your office, or you purchase conferencing capability from your local telephone provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc). In either case, the way to initiate a conference call would be the same as when you would have a desktop/office phone and establish a conference/bridged call to external parties. Usually this occurs by having one party on the line, flashing the disconnect button momentarily, getting a new dial tone, dialing and connecting to a second party, then flashing the disconnect button again, which signals the equipment to bridge those two calls to your station.  On the SoundStation EX there is a Flash button that provides that capability of momentarily flashing the disconnect button.  Try and see if that works. If not, then you will need to make arrangements to purchase the external equipment or service from your provider.  If you have the PABX or electronic KSU, it may also be a configuration option that you will need to have your support person for your telephone system, activate for that station connected to the SoundStation EX. Hope that helps.
