To change the Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region and Passkey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -

theres a few things you can do here.If you have your instalation disk you can perform repair even though theres nothing to repair your cd will be set to 0.the only time you have a region code set is if some one has set it previously.Dont suppose you wanna do that .You could check your model of cd/dvd player in system information then get the firmware of the net.just type in search engine model of drive followed by firmware.by installing firmware it will auto set drive to 0 (any region)...
You can also download a program(free)called "any dvd" this program enable you to play any region dvds.
