I had the same problem so I changed the time zone. Is there an upgrade or something to fix the problem for the future?

  • rchfldgal Mar 14, 2008

I was so delighted several years ago when I purchased a T276 clock radio with alarm and automatic time adjustment at the beginning and end of Dayight Savings Time. But then Congress went ahead and changed the dates of Daylight Savings Time and now the switch needs to be done manually. I relied on the automatic feature and miss it. I'd love it if there were a fix because I was spoiled with the automatic feature.

I have the same problem with my T621T.

I have a cube-shaped, silver Timex alarm clock that plays CD's. The fact that it springs forward and falls back on the WRONG schedule (because of the changes in DST) is a big problem, evidenced by this morning...my clock "fell back" and it thought it was 6:30am instead of 7:30...I was awakened 1 hour LATE (i.e., at 7:30 real time, instead of 6:30). The manual says "if you live in area that does not use daylight savings time, you must reset the clock when automatic adjustments occur." It doesn't let you change time zones. I'm just going to have to buy a new clock, when this one is perfectly fine otherwise. Frustrating.

I called the suggested 800# for Timex and was told that there was no fix to change to the new daylight saving time.

Change to Hawaiian time they do not follow DST. Then just manually set it each spring and fall for spring forward and fall back.

Changing time from daylight savings on my TIMELINK plug in house clock model 88141

To change the time on your TIMELINK plug-in clock model 88141 for daylight savings, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the "Time Set" button on the top or side of the clock.
  2. Press and hold the "Time Set" button until the clock display flashes.
  3. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the hours and minutes to the correct time.
  4. Press and release the "Time Set" button again to save the time.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the alarm if needed.
Note: Some TIMELINK clocks have a DST (Daylight Saving Time) button that can be pressed to turn DST on or off. If your clock has this button, press it to turn on DST and press it again to turn it off.

HELLO MY CLOCK DID NOT DO AUTO DAYLIGHT TIME HOW DO I FIX THE TIME TO ADJUST TO ONE HOUR A HEAD THANK YOU INGER WELCH

All you need to do to advance your clock an hour for daylight savings time, is hold down your clock button without letting it go. Then press your hour button once and you should be all set.
Most clocks that are older than when they changed the date of daylight savings time will either not change it for you on the right day anymore. Or they don't have that feature in it.
If yours does have an automatic daylight savings feature...you may find it helpful to take it off "automatic" and just change it manually from now on. That's what I do with my VCR. It has an automatic daylight savings time feature, but it's useless now that they have changed the date when we set our clocks for DST.
Some manufacturers will give you instructions on how to change the feature settings so your product will again work correctly for you. But not all will or can. You can look it up at your manufacturers website to know for sure.
Good Luck...and I hope this helps you.

Daylight savings time changes at wrong date on my brookstone 'smartset' alarm clock. (It changes at the old date, of course - so it is wrong 4 times a year...)

The DST schedule is hardwired into the older clocks and cannot be modified to run on the new schedule. If the clock has a DST switch, you can can turn it OFF and reset the clock only twice a year. On my old "ATOMIC" clock, I've set the DST function OFF, and I use the time zone switch for my adjustments. Sorry, but your only other choice is a new clock.

MY CKS1850 SMART CLOCK. IT IS A FEW YEARS OLD. IT

The daylight saving time change is calendar based, and unfortunately there is no way to reprogram it to the new schedule. You'll have to make the time changes manually.

TIMEX T611T IS SET FOR THE OLD DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. HOW DO YOU CHANGE IT?

I do not believe this can be fixed. From the user manual:

http://www.timexaudio.com/pdf/T611IB59075_73.pdf

Page 10 says:

Note: The clock and calendar automatically adjust for daylight-saving time and leap years. If you live in an area
that does not follow daylight-saving time, you will need to reset the clock when these adjustments occur.

Maybe acknowledging the intractability of the problem is the solution in this case.

Emerson Research SmartSet Clock Radio

There is a solution for this already. You can reprogram the clock to use the new DST settings.

Emerson Smartset Radio Model CKS2288

The Daylight Saving dates appear to be hard-coded per the manual:

Start of Daylight Saving Time:
At 1:59.59 AM on the first Sunday in April, the clock will automatically advance to 3:00 AM.
End of Daylight Saving Time:
At 2:59.59 AM on the last Sunday in October, the clock will automatically reset to 2:00 AM.

So the easiest thing to do is to change your time zone up or down one for the period between the new DST date and the old -- or you can buy a new SmartSet for about $15. The newer ones do not have the same problem.

You can't adjust the Daylight Savings Time. I called Timex and they confirmed this.
