GE microwave lights and fan do not work

Model JVM 1540 DNWW

Microwave fan and lights do not work. Main fuse (25A 250V) checked and is OK. Rest of microwave works perfectly. Is there another fuse to be checked?

If one of the surface light bulbs burnt out it may have shorted out the control board. Take the control board out and look for a burnt spot on the board. It may be able to be repaired with a drop of solder or solder in a jumper wire. Or you can purchase a new board, which may cost more than you want to put into the microwave.

It appears we have the identical problem in NS. Of course 15 months after purchase! When does an identical problem become a recall. This is obviously a GE defect. Comments?

There are two possibilities, one of the door switches has malfunctioned, usually caused by food partical buildup, more than likely. or there is an issue with the microprocessor control board, less likely.

My jvm 1540 will not heat. any advice?

Thanks for using FixYa. Microwave not heating properly is caused by a power relay going bad, cold solder joint on the board and/or magnetron (this is only if it makes a loud hum/buzz sound). Also the door hooks and the door-release button should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Microwave is not cooking anything. Everything else (timer, lights, fan, etc.)appears to be working fine. GR Model JVM 1660

Is it plugged right?
Check your vault 110v or 220v etc.

Microwave Oven has no power.

yeah open the microwave, and you will see a fuse usually located on the top area. the is also a fuse around the back of the panel area.

No power to GE Spacemaker Microwave

I have model GE Microwave serial # JVM2070SK02. I start to cook something and it shuts off 5~10 seconds. Keyboard is still lit up, but no clock, fan, light and you cannot operate anything on the key pad. Unplug the unit and it resets. Sometimes it cooks, sometimes it doesn't? It is getting more frequent with the shutting down problem?
