Printer not accepting new black ink cartridge

The printer was flashing that I was out of Black ink, replaced with brand new cartridge and reset, but printer will not clear and accept new cartridge. Tried replacing the new one thinking maybe I had a faulty new cartridge, but it still will not accept the new cartridge (black).

SOURCE: cannot get the printer to accept the new HP black cartridge

On my officejet 5510, I decided that the printer was toast and decided to throw it out and buy a new one. After making that decision, I decided to pound on top of it it a few times. Guess what??? You guessed it.....it reset itself and started back working. That was about 6 weeks ago and I haven't had a problem since. I have since turned it off and on many times, and it works like a charm. GO FIGURE!! (I only recommend this to those who have given up and are planning to trash it anyway).

SOURCE: printer replaced with black cartridge, and doesnt print

Either the print head for black is faulty, or the wiring to the black print head on carriage are broken. Try also cleaning the metal sensor to the black cartridge inside the ink carriage.

SOURCE: HP photosmart C4480 printer cartridge incompatible error BEWARE SPAM NUMBER BELOW 1-800-532-4187

Well....I solved the problem......bought a new Canon printer!!

I tried everything...unplugging, cleaning everything that was mentioned above. I was onto HP online support several time, but they were absolutely no help at all...they basically told me that the cartridge must be damaged or ink dried up and to buy a new cartridge to see if the error persisted.....I don't think so!!!
I will never by HP again after having issues with the last two I have had. I love my new Canon printer it is EVERYTHING that HP wasnt.

SOURCE: Replaced black ink cartridge and printer keeps asking to replace

The message that persists in saying to "replace black cartridge" could be due to a defective cartridge chip. The chip maintains counts and tells the printer when a new cartridge is installed. If you cartridge is remanufactured, they may have neglected to install a new chip.

Regarding the new fuser not working, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Printer not accepting new black ink cartridge

put that cartridge in and perform a head cleaning process, and allignment... follow the procedure (2 or 3 times if needed) and in the end, shut down the printer, disconnect usb cable (both end), then wait for some time, aprox. 20 sec. and then put both end in again, turn printer on and wait for ready signal or some sort of confirmation that all is ok... If not, replace or update the printer driver and software, or reinstall all printer software.

I replaced the black ink with a refill cartridge and its saying black ink volume unknown. went back and got a new refill cartridge says same thing...please help?

All cartridges are "tracked", which basically just means that when you run the cartridge down on one printer, if you put it in another it will still appear to be empty. With refilled cartridges, your printer may see it as empty because it has been empty once before. If your printer accepts it and still prints, your best option is just to let it go. Print with it and just ignore the message. You'll know when you need a new one because your printouts will start to fade or streak.

If your printer won't accept it or print at all, you can try performing a hard reset to try and trick the printer into thinking it has a new cartridge.

1. Open the cover and take out the cartridges.
2. With the cover open, unplug the power source from the printer.
3. Wait 20 - 30 seconds for the printer to reset.
4. Install the cartridges and close the cover.
5. Plug in the power source.
6. Turn the printer on and let it go through its regular startup process.

The hard reset option is not a guaranteed fix, but it is a good idea to try; it works on many models and brands very well but there are some that fail to recognize the refilled/remanufactured cartridges after a reset.

I replaced the color ink cartridge. Now there is an "E" flashing alternately with a "5". The alarm light is on steadily, and the black ink and color ink lights are flashing. How do I...

E5 is a Cartridge cannot be recognized error.
Reinstalling the cartridge could clear the alarm.
If this does not work,
Removed both ink cartridges.
Turn off printer and unplug fron electrical outlet.
Wait at least 5 minutes.
This will let the printer reset itself.
Plug printer back in and turn on.
Printer will cycle and an E5 will appear.
Installed back ink cartridges.

Black printer ink in HP Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

My Epson NX415 does not recognize refilled and reset cartridges. What can I do about it?

Don't let your ink levels drop below 25% before refilling and resetting your cartridges. There is an inner and an outer chip on these cartridges. The inner chip disables the outer chip when it's contacts are no longer bathed in ink. So, it doesn't matter if you "reset" the outer chip after refilling your empty cartridge because the chip was disabled. I'm really curious how you refilled these cartridges yourself without souring yourself on refilling from the experience. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I refilled a set of these cartridges when we had replacement chips available (we don't now because our chip distributor was violating Epson patents) and it was an absolute mess, took forever, and the cartridges still didn't work in our test printer.

well, you need to get NEW cartridges because there is a NON-resetable ink level sensor, once that detect no ink is left in the cartridge, it reports a empty cartridge to the printer, no way to change that, the only fix is to replace the cartridge with a new one, on epson printers you can reset the sensor, most other brands you cant

"Remove and check color cartidge."

ok the problem is very common.initially remove both the cartridges.then unplug the printer from main outlet and plug back in.this will reset the printer circuit.then after u on the printer bring back the cartridge carriage to cartridge installation position.then first clean the circuit in the carriage that touches and sense your cartridge circuit with a damp cloth.both colour and black carriage circuit.then clean the cartridge circuit too even if its new.then install both the cartridges and close the door and off the printer again and on it after 30 seconds atleast.then check it should work normally.
