How to change cartridge of HP J4580

This model HP printer may only let you use genuine Canon/Epson printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it will not work because the HP cartridges have an embedded chip in the cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled.

You need to blot the bottom of the ink cartridges on a damp paper towel and look for 3 solid ink lineson the color one and a solid black from the black one. If any colors are missing, especially yellow, it won't pass alignment. Some people have been getting defective cartridges where there's no yellow. If you get good lines on the towel it should pass alignment.

slowly off and on the printer for five times without cartridge, printer saves data of cart of last 5 only so next time it reads full ink..

If you bought the printer brand new then you should have got a support CD with documentation and a book. There will be info on how to change it.

your HP printer uses cartridge Black HP 901 & Colour HP 901, so get them first from local computer shop or stationary shop, if you haven't purchased yet.
