Brother HL-5240 all LED blinking

All the LED lights are blinking, hold Go button and all lights are off, release and all lights flash again

you need to replace drum cartridge, when you buy one back ,look new one then you'll find out where is the drum.

This usually means a print job is stuck in the queue that was set to "manual feed" or to a different paper size, such as legal. Add paper to the front manual feed and press "Go". If this is the problem, the stuck document will begin printing from the manual tray.

To clear the problem without printing from the manual feed, cancel all jobs on the printer, delete any jobs out of the Windows print queue and restart the computer.

that error usually indicates that the toner has reached its end of life
or the drum is not properly installed.

i had one person who put the toner in but threw the drum cartridge away.

Make sure the end tab in the paper tray is not too tight. The tab where you set the paper length. The paper should have about 1/16 inch space and not hold the paper too tight.

Pull the tray out and make sure the back guide is pushed against the paper. The back guide tends to move easily on these models

When all the lights are flashing together, turn the printer power OFF, wait 5 seconds and then turn the printer power ON again.

If the error continues, disconnect the interface cable from the back of the printer and use the following steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Press and hold the Go button on the front of the printer, at the same time turn the printer power on.
  3. When the Toner light is on by itself, release the Go button.
  4. Push and hold the Go button again, release the Go button when the Paper light is on by itself.

If this does not clear the problem, consult your dealer or your authorized service representative.

We have a Brother 5240. We inserted a new drum and toner and the drum light still blinks. Can you advise what the problem is. Thank you
Before you replace the drum you have to clear the error message. To do that you have to Make sure that the printer is turned on and the Drum LED is blinking. Press the front cover release button and then open the front cover. Press and hold down Go for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all four LEDs are lit, release Go.

All the light flashing
Try this procedure as mentioned.if any mistake in trying the procedure then retry from first step again.so read it carefully and try it. Brother ML-2040 Toner Light Reset
When replacing the toner cartridge in the Brother HL-2040 with a new cartridge (compatible or remanufactured) the user may experience a problem with the toner light staying on, even with the new toner installed. The procedure below has worked for many folks, so give it a shot.
Open the front cover of the Brother HL-2040 and leave open while completing the following steps:
1.) Turn the printer off.
2.) Hold the ‘go’ button while turning the printer on. All panel lights should be on.
3.) Release the ‘go’ button once all lights are off.
4. )Press the ‘go’ button 2 times.
5.) Pause.
6.) Press the ‘go’ button 5 times.
7.) The toner light should be off.
8.) The paper light should be on.
9.) Close cover. The ready light should be the only light on.
Once all steps are successfully completed your “low toner” light should be fixed. ------------- From Brother Service Bulletin


1. Open the Front cover
2. Press and hold the GO button
3. Power ON the printer while continuing to hold the GO button
4. Once the 3 LED’s are lit, release the GO button
5. Press the GO button 2 times. This will cause the LED’s to light solid
6. With the LED’s lit solid, press the GO button 5 times
7. Toner Life End will then reset

Resetting the Drum counter on a Brother HL-2040
Hi.
Have you recently replaced the drum?
  • The Drum LED blinks if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.
  • The Drum LED continues to blink if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum follow the instructions below:
  1. Open the front cover of the printer.
  2. Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until al the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button.
  3. Close the front cover.
 Reset the drum counter only when you replaced the drum unit with a new one.

Brother printer HL 5250 DN. The drum light was flashes and I have replaced the drum kit and toner cartridge.
Brother Drum Reset Instructions


The Drum LED continues to blink if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum follow the instructions below:
Press the cover release button and then open the front cover of the printer.


Press and hold down Go button until all 4 LEDs are lit. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button.

Close the front cover.
Make sure that the Drum LED is now off.
Reset the drum counter only when you replaced the drum unit with a new one.

HL-1440 Blinking lights
Mine had the 4 led's blinking alternating with the drum. I held down the button on the front till all lights were on steady and pressed the off switch on the left (while holding the front button down). After powering back up all was well again.

5240 brother
I just solved my similar problem- switch off printer, open front door, hold down go (blue) button. Now switch on, holding the go button for about 10 seconds then closing the door.This left the lights all off, green light only when pressing go. Switch off then on, it worked! hopefully this helps someone else. Ross

Brother HL-5240 drum light flashing
Normally clearing the drum count the machine has to be on open front cover as if to change the drum press and hold the button in for about 10 second then release and shut the door. This should reset the count if not please get back to me and I'll check the service manual to see if anything in that.
