Learn the equivalence.
180 deg=pi RADIANS.
1 DEG= (Pi/180) rad.
1 rad= (180/Pi) degrees.

SOURCE: don't know how to change it from degrees to radian mode

if you press the |mode| button (at the top right of the calculator) until you see Deg Rad Gra on the screen (I believe 3 presses of the mode button) and just hit the number below the rad option on the display. This will permanently change it to radian mode until you repeat this step, or clear the memory.

There is also a way to change to radian mode for just one operation if you will be mostly using degrees for example

at the bottom there is a DRG> as a shifted function. I would just recommend changing it in the way I initially outlined as there is less room for error when making calculations.

SOURCE: i need to change to mode to degress

Under the screen you can see atable of values at the right of which is written MODE followed by a small arrow.

If you want to set the degree as angle unit, you press the MODE key followed by 4 (as seen in the table I was referring to).
Similarly, if you want to set RAD as the angle unit you press MODE then 5; and MODE then 6 for GRAD.

However if you just want to convert a number displayed on the screen in RADs or GRADs into DEGs , you press SHIFT then MODE then 4. your number should be converted from the unit it was expressed in into degrees.

Same thing if you want to convert into RADs: SHIFT then MODE then 5.

Hope it helps.

Hello,
Here is a clipping from the manual for the FX300MS, that will certainly help you to change the angle unit.

Cot(x) = -0.6

Let's start with a little background.

The cot(x) is also known as the cotangent(x) and it equals 1/tan(x) which equals cos(x)/sin(x). I'm showing these formulas because your calculator may not have a cot button but it will probably have buttons for tan, cos, and sin.

Your calculator may also have buttons for tan-1, cos-1 and sin-1. These are the inverse functions for tan, cos, and sin. If you enter a number and then push the tan-1 button, the result is the angle whose tangent is the entered number. For example, it you enter 1 and push the tan-1 button the answer will be 45 deg because tan (45 deg) = 1.

Now let's look at the problem, cot(x) = -0.6.
The first thing we need to know is do you want the answer in degrees or radians? Your calculator will have both modes. The default mode when you first turn it on is probably degrees. If this problem is in radians you will need to change the mode of your calculator over to radians before we start.

If cot(x) = -0.6, then tan(x) = 1/-0.6 from the formula I showed in the background section.

This means tan(x) = -1.6666666...

Now we just enter -1.66666667 and hit the tan-1 button to get the answer.

If we're operating in radians the answer is -1.0307 radians.
If we're operating in degrees the answer is -59.036 deg.

I hope this helps you out.

How do I get from degrees to radians? For some reason my TI-84 will not convert degrees to radians.

5268751.jpg
Press the [MODE] key to access the mode comfiguration screen .
Set angle unit to to radian (see above)
Enter angle value in Decimal degrees only, use the [2nd][ANGLE] key sequence to have access to the degree symbol. The degree symbol must imperatively appear at the end of the angle value.

Here are some examples
If you use angle values in DMS, it will not be converted to radians, but to decimal degrees.
If you omit the degree symbol there is no conversion.

To convert a displayed number from degree to radian, press [2nd][DRG->] once. Each time you press the two keys in sequence you change from deg to rad to grad to degree and so on.
Hope it helps.

Wrobg answer whenever I use radians

Hello,
To avoid problems, set your angle unit to radians by default. Press [MODE]. If Radian is highlighted (text on black background), it is indeed the default mode. If Degreee is highlighted, scroll dowm to the line and use the left arrow to select Radian and press ENTER. Radian will start blinking.
Any number you feed a function that acts on angles (sin, cos, tan) will be considered in radians. Any result that comes out of the inverse trigonometric functions (arcsin, arccos, arctan) is in radian. The angle coming from a conversion from cartesian coordinates to polar coordinates is in radian.
You have a simple way to convert the value from radians to degrees because 1 rad=180/pi. Store this value in a variable [STO->] D
180/[2nd][PI] [STO->] D

Since the last result is always stored in [Ans] all you have to do is to multiply by D: [Ans][x][ALPHA]D converts results in degrees.

Hope it helps

Converting degrees and minutes and seconds to radians

Hello,
With the TI8x/TI8xPlus you can enter an angle in degrees (Angle mode must be set to degrees) and convert it into DMS representation the following way. Exemple
18.675 [2nd][ANGLE][4] [ENTER] gives 18deg 40' 30''
If Angle [MODE] is set to degrees you can enter a number in radians and convert it into degrees. Exemple How many degrees are ther in 1rad ?
[1][2nd][ANGLE][3] display 1 with a small r as superscrit. Pressing [ENTER] yields 57.29577951

To convert 1rad into DMS, takes a little effort but can be done: you have
to convert radians to degrees and the result [ANS] into DMS.

You cannot use an angle written in DMS in any calculation.
But if you want to convert an angle from degrees to radians enter your number and divide by 57.29577951

Hope it helps

On my TI 83 plus my sine cosine and tangent buttons are giving incorrect answers.

Alot of people seem to be having this problem. Angles can be measured in two units, degrees and radians. Your calculator is currently doing everything in terms of radians. I have an 84 but I'm sure the 83 is similar, go under MODE and look for Degrees and Radians and make sure you choose degrees. if you have to convert, 360[degrees] = 2* pi [radians]
(easy to remember, 360deg in a circle, 2pi radians in a circle)
Good luck
