That's because the speakers are broken. Look in the User guide for reset instructions. If that doesn't work buy new speakers.

How do I pair my I Pad with my new Philips portable speaker using bluetooth ( can connect fine using a cable)

If your portable speaker is Bluetooth-enabled, here is the general procedure:

1. Press and hold the function control button on the speaker until you see red and blue lights flashing in rapid succession on the speaker (the speaker is now in "pairing" mode).
2. Turn on Bluetooth on your iPad and then tap on Scan. iPad will begin scanning for nearby Bluetooth devices. When you see a name similar to that of your speaker, tap on it . You will be asked for a passcode/passkey to pair the iPad with the speaker. Enter '0000' or '1234' (without the quotes).
3. Once the passkey is accepted, the two devices are now paired. The light on the speaker should become a steady blue.
4. On the iPad, tap on Connect. If the iPad connects to the speaker, you will see Connected. You are done. Play some music from the iPad to see if you can hear it coming through the speaker.

You should have this procedure detailed in the set up guide that came with the speaker. Please note that pairing is required only for the first time you try to connect the two devices, to get them "acquainted" to each other. After that, all you need is to connect the iPad to the speaker every time you want to listen to your iPad through the speaker.

My speaker does not connect to my ipad

The speaker has to be paired with your iPad before it will work. Check your documentation on how to put your speaker in "discoverable" mode long enough for the iPad to find it. If you have previously paired your speaker and it at one time did function is your iPad, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on the iPad. Also, check the batteries on the speaker if it has previously functioned with your iPad...

Digix BT-100 Portable Bluetooth Wireless Speaker says not connected when I try to pair it with my ipod.

Kathryn,

The speaker can only pair with one device. I had the same issue pairing it with my phone and then to my iPad.

You simply need to unpair it with your daughters iPod by turning off the bluetooth on that iPod, turn off then back ON the speaker and connect again to your own iPod by turning on the Bluetooth, Selecting BT100 from the list and wait for it to say CONNECTED (not paired).
Hope this helps!

  1. Connect the iPhone Dual Dock or iPhone Bluetooth Travel Cable to a USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on the keyboard).
  2. Connect iPhone and the headset to the dock or cable. The headset pairs with iPhone automatically.
