Go in BIOS & try to remove PWD.
Seems a bit strange. however, there is serial num & codes found on the drive itself.

you can try removing the bios battery for a couple hours and see if it resets.another option could be to flash the bios. i heard that you can take it to best buy andthey take care of it for you

if locked while booting up, before even windows is loading: you've got a master password in BIOS to worry about.No way but to ask the manufacturer to remove it.
if you cannot access windows anymore after booting up:
boot up from a win cd, go through setup,
install a new copy of windows and try to find your personal files on the disk, back them up and reboot from a win cd again, this time format the whole harddisk and set up a clean, new installlation of windows.(warning: all beforehand data will permanently lost then)

Never heard of a 'hard drive code' before.. You don't mean a BIOS password, do you?? If it is a bios password, there is most likely a switch or 'jumper pin' on the motherboard, that will reset the bios to default. That will get rid of the password. If this is not helpful, please describe what happens when you try to start the pc..? Maybe more info will help sort this out. Go to the website of the manufacturer & look for your model of pc. It will tell you how to reset the bios password, if you need further info..

CHECK to see if HDDunlock.com supports your drive, I seem to remember that they do NOT support Hitachi drives.

I can't help with any Back door passwaord BUT I have found a couple of BIOS Password Removers... perhaps ya can just get rid of the "Old" one and ya be all good?
