SOURCE: oven pilot light won't light

you must push and hold the button on the bottom fo the safety valve until the thermocouple is warm enough to keep the safety valve open. @ 25 - 30 seconds

SOURCE: Pilot light to oven went out

It could be that the safety ($150 to $250) is getting old, or grease filled. It could also mean the thermocouple ($7 to $12) is going bad, or has a bad connection. If the copper jacket of the thermocouple is blackened near the pilot, broken or cracked in anyway, it may not be working properly, as it generates a small voltage when heated, less than100th of an AAA battery, to keep your pilot lit. If the pilot orfice is clogged with dust it produces a smaller, less hot flame, which also lowers the output of the thermocouple. If I was performing the service, you would automatically get a pilot cleaning, and a thermocouple, the safety could still be bad, and confirming this is a 50/50 chance to begin with, but it is a cheaper start. Good luck, ask more if you need too, thank you, an Happy New Year.

SOURCE: Garland H283 gas range. Right oven wont come on.

I just read this here:
http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=13&newsdesk_id=117
that explained how to test if the problem is the thermostat. It said to watch the pilot as you open the thermostat to turn on the oven. If the thermostat is ok the pilot should get bigger, if the pilot does not change when turning on the thermostat, then the thermostat is bad.

SOURCE: Oven pilot light won't light

It is usually a bad thermocouple. Mine had only had a weak pilot flame and the problem turned out to be a corroded and leaking pilot gas line. It was leaking whee it enters at the bottom of the oven chamber.

SOURCE: I have a Garland Sunfire 36 inch gas Range. oven does not come on again after reaching temp.

You probably have a bad thermocouple. Try cleaning it off with sand paper. It's the part that the pilot light is igniting.

Caloric range oven, older at least 20 years old, the range burners spark, but will not light, i am assuming that its electronic ignition, no pilot light?

If you don't smell gas, then it is probably electronic ignition and not a pilot light.

But if your oven and none of the range burners light, are you sure you are getting gas to the unit or from the range valve to the burners and oven? Can you light the burners with a match? If you can you can rule out the valve and incoming gas line, and concentrate on the ignitors.

Hotpoint gas stove. burners work, oven and broiler do not.

Probably the safety valve. This unit broils and bakes off the same gas burner. A spark ignitor lights the pilot and this save gas because no standing pilot is needed. It takes a few minutes for the thermocouple bimetal combo to release the gas. When the temp gets to the desired rate then the bulb on the oven control closes off the flow of gas. To recap: The flow of gas comes from a regulator along a rail which supplys the gas to the top burners and the oven control. older models had pilot light tubing going down to the oven and to the top burners. This newer style uses a spark module to light off the top burners and the oven. So when yall turn the the oven on the spark ignitor lights the pilot first and then after the mercury bulf thermocouple heats up the bimetal inside the valve opens allowing gas to flow out to the pilot and ignite the gas burner. the temp rises and the mercury bulb oven control expands closing off the flow but not the gas safety valve. I would suspect the safety valve on this one.

I just got my (new to me) pre-1990 Wolf 36'' range connected (by a certified pro). 4 burners, 12'' fry top/charbroiler/cheesemelter thingie on left, 4 burners on right, 29'' oven - propane. It has not been...

the oven pilot has 2 setting first setting is for you to light small flame, should not be all yellow if it is it has a dirty orifice inside the pilot hood, you can remove this by disconnecting the pilot line from the hood and removing orifice for cleaning, just rub it with a cloth.once clean and replaced you light pilot and check it out. if its ok turn on oven and secondary pilot will ignite that why it got bigger!! this heats a flame sensor to allow 100% safty vavle to open to let gas into burner so yuo can cook.

Burners on top will not light with the pilot lights

To Clean:
IMPORTANT:
Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and
the oven and cooktop are cool. Do not use oven cleaners, bleach
or rust removers.
1. Remove the burner cap from the burner base and clean
according to “General Cleaning” section.
2. Clean the gas tube opening with a damp cloth.
3. Clean clogged burner ports with a straight pin as shown. Do
not enlarge or distort the port. Do not use a wooden
toothpick. If the burner needs to be adjusted, contact a
trained repair specialist.
4. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are
properly aligned with the burner cap.
5. Turn on the burner. If the burner does not light, check cap aligment.

OVEN WON'T STAY LITE MOST OF TIME & DOESN'T HEAT WELL:

Most problems with gas ranges have to do with the flame—either it isn't quite right or it's nonexistent. Many new gas ranges have "electronic ignition," a spark igniter that starts the flame as gas flows through the burners f, when you turn on a burner, it fails to spark but you hear sparking at other burners, the igniter or the burner switch probably needs replacement by an appliance repairperson. If your range has a pilot light, be sure the pilot light is lit.

have nice time..!! arte the solution!!

How do I turn my oven on!

The oven pilot will need to be lit, On the bottom there is the oven safety valve, it has a red button on it, you must depress the button and hold it with the pilot lit for 60 seconds, when you release the button the pilot should stay lit and the oven will be ready for operation using the thermostat (knob). Please note: if the oven has set unused for some time you may need to hold the red button for a long time to bleed the air out of the lines. The pilots for the top burners are actually right beside each burner. You may need to turn these pilots on, they are controlled by small valves (small brass screws on the gas manifold where the gas valves and knobs are located, look between the knobs). These small screws/valves will open the gas flow to the pilots when turned counter clockwise. If you open these valves and the pilots still do not work, they will need to be replaced. Hope this helps
