We recently had a Beverage-Air KF48-1AS donated to our soup kitchen/food pantry, Looks in pretty good shape but we can't get it below 40 degrees. The fans inside the unit never seem to kick in. We do get ice and frost around the top of the unit.
Any ideas?

It could be low on freon.
Since it is a freezer, it has a fan delay switch located in the evap area. It senses the temp of the evap, and when it gets to a temp (Usually about 20 degrees), it allows the fan to come on. The thought is that you do not want to circulate warm air in a freezer. If it is low on freon, the temp will not get low enough for the switch to tell the fan to come on.
Another could be that the fan delay has gone bad and the switch is not allowing the fans to come on.
This is listed in the parts guide as a refrigerator but Fixya has it has it as a freezer. Which one is it.
If a refrigerator, there is no fan delay.
