Beverage-Air KF48-1AS not coooling, fans not running

We recently had a Beverage-Air KF48-1AS donated to our soup kitchen/food pantry, Looks in pretty good shape but we can't get it below 40 degrees. The fans inside the unit never seem to kick in. We do get ice and frost around the top of the unit.

Any ideas?

It could be low on freon.

Since it is a freezer, it has a fan delay switch located in the evap area. It senses the temp of the evap, and when it gets to a temp (Usually about 20 degrees), it allows the fan to come on. The thought is that you do not want to circulate warm air in a freezer. If it is low on freon, the temp will not get low enough for the switch to tell the fan to come on.

Another could be that the fan delay has gone bad and the switch is not allowing the fans to come on.

This is listed in the parts guide as a refrigerator but Fixya has it has it as a freezer. Which one is it.

If a refrigerator, there is no fan delay.

I purchased a BeverageAir commercial refrigerator and the fan won't run. What could the problem be?

CHECK THE THERMOSTAT WHETHER IS IT TO THE LOWEST CAUSING VERY LITTLE FREEZING. TAKE THE KNOB TO THE MAXIMUM AND THEN SEE WHETHER IT STARTED. IN CASE NO THEN CHECK THE WIRING OF THE FAN MIGHT BE SOME CONNECTION NOT IN PLACE

I have a double door Commercial Freezer Beverage Air, E-Series Model#EF48-1AS and is not keeping the items inside frozen. We have cleaned out the fan filters and has not seemed to help. What else can I do...

Check the fans are running ok, and the condensing area isn't too hot. Check the door closes properly and the inside isn't blocked up with ice. If all appears ok you may have to call out a technician

The fan has a limit control wired in series that shuts the fan down until the coil temperature reaches 25*F. this prevents the fan from blowing warm around after defrost.
There is also a switch which is placed for the door to close. Either one may be defective.
Worst case is the freezer is not pulling down temperature wise.

Unit gets no colder than 40 deg.

start with the basics. Make sure the condenser coil is clean. If the unit is running, make sure the evap fan motor is running. You may have to hold the door switch with your finger to check that out. Let me know and we can go further.

Fan runs but the compressor does not run no

While moving the unit you may have jammed or budged the start capacitor which is keeping your unit from turning on. It is located in the back of the unit near the compressor it is oval shaped and silver in color with two wires running out of it. Get the number off of it, go online and search for beverage-air commercial freezer parts. You will need to have the model number to make sure that you get the right parts. Please rate

Unit not freezing , evaporator fan wont run

If this is a Bev-Air, don't think the door switch will control the fan. At the evap, there is a temp sensor called a fan delay. When unit goes into defrost mode, this warms up. Some also serve a dual purpose. It will terminate the defrost cycle at a certain temp., say 51 degrees or so, at the evap. Anyway, when unit comes out of defrost, it keeps the fan off so it allows the evap to cool quicker and to prevent circulating warm air. This could be your problem. Not a hard fix but they can be a pain sometimes. Outside chance that the unit is low on refrigerant (freon). This will not let the evap get cold enough to trip the sensor back into position to turn the fan on. Good Luck. Restaurant Parts and More carry alot of Bev-Air stuff. 1-888-814-1110. Ask for Rick

Beverage-Air Freezer Model KF-24

verify that condensers ain't clogged with dirt, condenser fan is running all the time and set the thermostat to the coldest setting. if temperature keeps rising suspect dirty condenser of deficient condenser fan. if compressor runs and no cooling after condenser cleaning. suspect a refrigerant charge problem. hope to be of assisit
