Can't use the oven when it does this.. intermittent problem, will do it for a while, then go away for months, then come back.
I plugged in the probe and stuck it into a pyrex measuring cup of water, set the probe temp to 165, set the convection (or bake) oven to 500, and turned it on. This allowed it to run for about 20 minutes, and cleaned out the probe jack. Works fine now.
Remove the left panel of the oven housing (remove the two screws in the rear, then slide the panel forward to remove). Disconnect the wires going to the probe socket. Wrap the ends of the wires with an insulating material and leave them disconnected. Reinstall the panel and screws. Obviously, the probe function will not work, but it is pretty useless anyway. And your problem will be solved.
I had this problem as described. I followed the solution by s8b2 and it is all good now. I did not have to take the side panel off of my unit, there was a small round cover over the probe location that I was able to use.

I tried disconnecting the wires from the socket and it appeared to work but the problem returned the next time the oven was used.
I did manage to fix the problem however. I removed the oven a second time so that I could disconnect the temp probe wire harness from the control panel. You can identify it because it has two white fabric-like covered wires ending in a red connector on the top of the oven - it's the only one like that.
I had already cut the wires at the probe socket so I tried to remove the entire harness. This is when I found that one of the wires was pinched tightly under a support bracket - a problem created when the oven was manufactured. Over the years, a small amount of grease had infused into the fabric-like insulation. When heated by the oven, the grease achieved sufficient conductivity and contact to ground that the computer was tricked into sensing that the probe was inserted.
We have been testing and using the oven for weeks now and no more problem. No temp probe either but we never used it. If you do use it, you can buy a new harness with socket for $40 and install.
Did you remove the yellow wires from the control panel?

Disconnected circuitbreakers from fuse panel to oven, then took the robertson screws off and then control/touchpanel off and found it full of spillage from the rangetop, and (yuk) mice droppings/crumbs/grease - did not unplug any wires: instead drained/vaccuumed/mopped up all droppings/residue and liquid, sprayed thoroughly with CONTACT/CIRCUITBOARD cleaner, drying with hairdryer, then dabbing some more grease and liquid from the underside! Error code for short circuit solved LOL! So then hit START on panel, allowing oven to heat to 325degreesF... allowed error to continue beeping for PROBE temp; then hit CANCEL after it went on for a while. May your solution be as mine! It worked.
This is usually caused by a short from the casing of the probe socket to the body of the oven. This is not an easy thing to fix as it requires you to take the range apart. I usually fix this by removing the probe socket and painting the case of the probe where it comes in contact with the oven cavity and also around the hole in the oven cavity where it attaches and after it has been allowed to dry reassemble.
I have the same problem and disconnected the probe harness. Powered back on and still get prone temp message. Any ideas?

After using spray cleaner on the oven, the same error message happened to me. I loosened the probe screw in the oven, used a hairdryer to thoroughly dry the probe plugin, this fixed the problem. Next time I will cover the probe socket with tape before cleaning with a spray cleaner

bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it
should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the
door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and
should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi,
This is a common issue and cannot be troubleshooted. The only way to fix this is to replace the temperature probe. The error will disappear and the range would start working fine.

My "set probe temp" just started flashing.. have never even used probe. It will not go off but in addtion cannot use oven. I have tried turning off ove at junction box but when I turn it back on probe light is still flashing.
